Positive: Our 4-night stay at Quinta Vale de Carvalho at the end of December was truly wonderful. We stayed as a couple with our dog in a luxury villa on the vineyard and felt at home from the very first moment. The villa is very comfortable and luxurious, beautifully furnished with great attention to detail and spotlessly clean, just as described for this property. The house is located on a working vineyard with many old olive trees and offers stunning views over the Douro Valley and the Douro River, which we enjoyed both from inside the house and outside on the property From the quinta we were able to make beautiful walks in the nearby Pinhal do Douro area, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and impressive valley views. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace, the many panoramic vistas over the Douro Valley and the direct access to nature from the property. On two evenings we had excellent dinners at Pedro’s nearby wine house with hotel and restaurant, where the food was of very high quality and clearly prepared with a lot of care. We also bought delicious wine, port and olive oil from Quinta Vale de Carvalho itself, which made the experience on this family estate feel even more special. In the evenings we relaxed by the wood-burning stove with a glass of local wine, which made the winter stay extra cozy. Every morning we received a generous breakfast with fresh bread, jams, fruit, cheese and cold cuts, and our dietary wishes were taken into account, matching the rich breakfast experience other guests describe here as well. Pedro is a warm and attentive host, speaks very good English and made communication easy and pleasant throughout our stay. We travelled with an electric car and could charge it at a regular socket near the villa using our own charger; it was not fast, but perfectly sufficient to drive around the area every day with a nearly full battery.

Positive: We spent a weekend at Pedro’s place with our dog, driving through misty November mountains until we reached a house that genuinely took our breath away. The view, the quiet, the fireplace already burning. it felt great to be there. Pedro, his parents, and the entire team were unbelievably friendly and helpful. We had dinner at his riverside restaurant, eating his handmade local dishes and drinking great wine. His father even drove with us back to our house afterward, which was such a sweet gesture. On Sunday morning, we woke up to a huge breakfast basket delivered right to our door. We’ll definitely be back.

The location is another highlight—this quinta is set in a truly secluded spot, surrounded by breathtaking views and nature. However, keep in mind that this also means the nearest town is about a 10-15 minute drive away, and there are no restaurants, shops, or even other people within walking distance. That said, if you're looking for peace, privacy, and stunning nature, this place is simply perfect!
