This newly renovated lakehouse is conveniently located on the quiet and serene Lake Dutchess, just 1 hour 20 min away from NYC. Lake Dutchess is a quiet and serene non-motorized lake, perfect for a weekend getaway! Whether you want to kayak in the spring, bbq and swim in the summer, go apple-picking and enjoy the fall foliage, or cozy up by the fire in the winter, this lakehouse is the perfect retreat all year round!
The house was recently gut renovated, and is fully equipped to accommodate up to 6 people. It has a full chef's kitchen, gas fireplace, washer/dryer, cable tv and wifi. There is a BBQ on the deck overlooking the lake. The kitchen is stocked with everything a chef will need to put on a show! The house also has a private dock with swimming platform, 4 kayaks with paddles, life jackets, fishing rods and a 12ft shuffle board. The main floor has air conditioning, and all bedrooms have ceiling fans and localized heating. Additional amenities include wifi, cable, Beekman 1802 toiletries, high-quality bedlinens, towels and blankets.
The lakehouse is located a mile off of I84 and is a quick 1 hour 20 minute drive from midtown Manhattan. You can also take Metro North's Harlem Line to the Southeast station , which is 10 minutes away.
Local Attractions include: Beacon (Dia Museum, art shops, restaurants), Storm King, Cold Spring (antique shopping, cafes), Dover Springs, Brewster, Carmel. There are a ton of local hiking trails that have been ranked some of the best in the country. We are just a short drive from the Appalachian Trail, Breakneck Ridge, The Beacon Reservoir and The Fire Tower trails. For kids, we are close to Splashdown Beach water park, and several great local farms and orchards for apple, peach, berry, vegetable and pumpkin picking, and maple syrup tasting! For our family visitors, we have a Stokke high chair and baby gate for the stairway, and a full size crib, all available upon request. The kitchen is equipped with kids plates, bowls, and toddler/baby cutlery. We also have two swings below the deck, one standard park style and one bucket style for babies.
Please note the incline down from the house to the lake is steep, so please contact me to discuss further if you have concerns about mobility. The age requirement to book is 28. Due to the septic capacity, we have a maximum occupancy of 6 people.

Summary: We absolutely loved our stay in this home. We stayed for two weeks in mid-October and it was amazing. The property was extremely clean and well kept. The kitchen and bathrooms had all the amenities we needed, and there was so much to explore nearby. We hope to stay again. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet getaway near NYC

Summary: We are four friends since high school and we stayed here to celebrate our 60th birthdays in the Hudson Valley. The natural setting is unreal - right on the water of a beautiful lake that has only a few houses dotting the perimeter. Otherwise it is incredibly quiet and peaceful to watch the reflection of the trees in the water from the panoramic windows in the living room/kitchen/dining room (and some of bedrooms) , the large deck off the living area or from the adirondack chairs on the large concrete landing right on the water. The house appears to be a brand new renovation, tastefully done with clean and modern everything as if the owners had just built it for themselves. New and comfortable everything. Thoughtful additions of games, kayaks and fishing poles. The house binder listed and described the local restaurants, supermarkets, etc. Great instructions and communicative owner. We just couldn't get over the beautiful natural setting. A real treat.

Summary: This is one of the finest homes we've ever rented, beautifully appointed, clean, modern, spacious, great kitchen, a generous pantry. Dealing with Rebecca was very good, an immediate answer to any concern. The TV took a little bit to understand but the Welcome Book (which was otherwise most helpful) seemed to be missing a page about using the remotes so that needs to be replaced. I also think small dressers in the bedrooms would be helpful but the closets are terrific. It is a very peaceful, very quiet area and my husband and I would sign up now for next month but... Lake Dutchess was a huge disappointment. I am used to swimming every day in August weather permitting and our weather was just about perfect for the entire month. The lake was a disaster from day one, stagnant and smelly, an overload of algae that only got worse as the days progressed. We never saw anyone using the lake with the exceptions of a couple folks on kayaks once or twice. Rebecca explained that the lake problem was unusual but it depends on temperature and wind. I wish this was indicated in the description of the home because the ability to swim is one of the major activities I look forward to every summer. A real shame all around because, as indicated, the house is great.

Summary: We’ve come here several times and enjoyed our stay each time, particularly our 2 young kids. The home is exactly as advertised in the pictures and description. Rebecca is very thoughtful and responsive. Kids had a great time playing by the private dock and kayaking and are already clamoring to come back.

Summary: My girlfriends and I really enjoyed our weekend at the lake house! The house was newly updated and furnished beautifully. The home was clean, organized and had everything we could have wanted. A nice quiet spot on the lake to relax and enjoy nature- we enjoyed watching the swans and geese! Rebecca and very responsive and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here and would love to go back!

Summary: My adult family of 6 visited this lovely home the last weekend in Oct to celebrate my 65th birthday. Fortunately for us the weather was superb, and we were excited to be vacationing at this beautiful house on a private lake. The online pictures were appealing but did not do this home justice. From the moment we walked in and took in the incredible views of the lake from the gorgeous kitchen windows a feeling of calm, peace and awe came over us. The fall foliage surrounding the lake was at peak and the sun glistening down on the water was mesmerizing. We had found the perfect spot to relax and enjoy our time together. Lucky us! Then we took in the beautiful chef’s kitchen and warm, tasteful and inviting decor of the home and how immaculate it had been kept. This home did not feel like the typical vacation rental, but rather like we were staying in someone’s personal space and using their quality items and furnishings, and that was very much appreciated. Rebecca was the perfect host and was most thoughtful, attentive and responsive to our needs. We began our weekend hiking in nearby Pawling Nature Reserve followed by cocktails on the deck watching the sunset on the lake. We cooked a nice dinner, had a shuffleboard tournament, and played other games later. The next day we walked around the lake, kayaked the lake, had cocktails on the dock and cooked another amazing dinner and played even more games. We had such a great time and can’t wait to return!
