Cutar House | Private Rooftop Terrace with Panoramic Mountain Views. Perfect Chill Out Space.

3 Bedroom House in Cutar

Casa Asilah is in the beautiful Spanish village of Cútar. It offers panoramic mountain views and is a perfect place to relax and take in the vibe. In the province of Malaga, 50 minutes outside the city, 30 mins drive from beaches of the Mediterranean and Lake Vinuela close by. From its hilltop location, the rooftop terrace offers spectacular panoramic views over the mountains of the Sierra de Tejeda.
The house is perfect for families and groups and offers a spacious home from home experience in a spectacular location. Crowning the dramatic landscape, Cútar is an enchanting Moorish village and sits 300m above sea level. It offers panoramic mountains views of Mount Moroma and surrounding countryside.
The house is decorated in a traditional Moorish style and is brimming with rustic character. Three bedrooms (1 double room and 2 twin rooms) each with a Juliette balcony overlooking the church.
On the ground floor is the lounge, dining room and modern fully equipped kitchen offering lots of space to make yourself at home. A family bathroom on the first floor and a second shower w/c downstairs.
Outside there are two terraces to relax and enjoy the views. A private, mid-terrace with a staircase leading to the large roof terrace with expansive views over the village and mountains. Sunrise is definitely worth the early wake up to see!
Cútar has a small shop, a well stocked pharmacy and a village bars which takes advantage of the village plaza offering wonderful views. Larger supermarkets, banks and petrol stations can be found a few minutes drive away in nearby villages. Cutar now has a communal swimming pool which is open in the summer months (mid July to Mid Sept) as do the other nearby villages which you can use for a small entrance fee. There is no charge to use the Cutar pool.
The village is very peaceful and is a great base for walking, hiking trails and cycling. Trails can be picked up right by the house. It is a great place to experience traditional Andalusian life.
Cútar is typical of the Axarquia region with narrow, sloped streets meaning it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. We recommend hiring a car to get around and travelling to Cutar.
There are ceiling fans in all 3 bedrooms, the lounge and the dining room. There are also floor fans for the warmer summer months.
For the cooler months, there is an electric fire in the lounge and 2 wall mounted heaters in the living area and main bedroom.

Summary: Casa Assilah is a really lovely property situated (more or less) at the top end of the beautiful Spanish mountain town of Cutar. It is fairly remote although a 10 minute drive away you'll find a bigger town with a really decent supermarket and petrol station (you drive through this town each day). It also has bars etc, but we didn't use them. From the main road near to Velez-Malaga the drive to Cutar will take around 20/25 minutes due to the twisting mountain roads and Road Calming measures. After 10 days of driving backwards and forwards, this did get a bit annoying as you cannot do it any quicker so just look at the scenery which is something of beauty. There is no doubt that you will need good working legs as you have to park your car at the bottom of the town and walk up a steep hill. The hill does level out (sort of) at points for a breather, but considering you will likely be carrying large water bottles, Shopping, Beach kit and so on just hope you have many hands to make light work. You can drive your car up to the front of the house (for a quick stop) but beware, this is a super narrow street, with some resident cars already parked up and it will require some quality driving skills and a small but powerful enough car to get up, decent handbrake and then some clever manoeuvring skills to get back out. We hired a fiat 500 and the car just about died on me as I reached the critical point of the hill. Wouldn't be a massive problem if there were no other cars but vehicle space is seriously limited. Please don't let this put you off, you just sometimes want an easier life than walking up the hill with all your goods. Anne, the host, was great to liaise with along with Marie who lives in the village. We didn't need to bother Anne, just asked Marie a couple of questions about restaurants etc. The property is on 4 floors with a couple of steps down into the lounge, 10 or so up to the bedrooms and then a similar amount after you walk through a more enclosed sun lounge area and onto the roof top. The property is kitted out with just about everything you'll need for your stay and you will also find numerous cleaning products, and other useful items for your use. You can't use everything you buy, so just leave it for the next guests to use. If there was one tiny thing to improve our stay, it would've been air chilled air con in the bedrooms and not stand alone and ceiling fan lights. It is a lovely property so go and have fun.

Summary: We had a wonderful week at Casa Asilah. Anne met us on arrival and made us very welcome. Property has stunning views over the mountains from the huge roof terrace. Cutar is a lovely white village with a friendly bar and a Pharmacy. Supermarket is close by in Benamargosa for all your needs. So many lovely villages to explore, or just relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the views. Would highly recommend.
