Summary: Our two families (9 people, kids aged 9-14) had an amazing time in our week here. The house is perfect, plenty of space for everyone and with everything you need to cook and enjoy the beautiful outside spaces as well. We adventured to progreso, chuburna beach, and ate at coastal cafe in chelem.

Summary: We had a fantastic 2 weeks stay for Christmas and New Year. It was a family holiday with 8 adults and 4 children ranging in ages 5 - 12. The house was amazing and was equipped with everything we needed. The kids were so happy that there was a big basket of beach toys and they spent many hours making sand castles at the beach. The water was a bit choppy when we were there but fun for body surfing. The pool also was a hit! The town of Chelem and also Chaburno near by was interesting too - we felt we were seeing the 'real' Mexico. So sad to see all the skinny little street dogs. We wanted to take them all home. A highlight of our trip was a private tour to a Cenote run by a Mayan family. The tour included lunch provided by the family and then we visited the Mayan Ruin Ake. The only comment is on transportation - we had one car and sometimes that was a problem with so many people wanting to do different things - Not sure if we could have asked for another set of keys for the garage door but it was a bit hard logistically with so many people sharing and wanting to do different things. Loved our vacation and would highly recommend staying at this house! Thank you! We took the new Mayan Train to Cancun on our way home and that was also a great experience-very smooth and brand new. A good way to get from Cancun to Merida.

Summary: This home was an amazing launch pad for our first trip to the Yucatan. We were a party of 5 adults and 1 teen. The house was perfect for our group. The 5 beds with baths worked out amazing so we didn't have any complaints from siblings about sharing. The house had everything we needed to cook, relax and just enjoy being there. The yard, pool and access to the beautiful beach couldn't have been better. We also very much enjoyed the town. We embraced the local culture and loved visiting the local butchers, pescaterias, and tortillerias. some of the freshest food we've ever had came from these markets. The towns people were so lovely. the location also allowed easy access to Merida, Progresso and other areas you may want to explore. For me, I would feel better on my next visit being a little more fluent in Spanish. I was able to get by with what I knew and what i picked up while there but having some spanish would definitely help. Also, when getting pesos, you will need smaller bills. The airport exchanged our dollars and gave us 500 peso bills which a lot of small shops wouldn't accept. We were able to find a bank in Merida while there to trade them for smaller ones. Veronica, the hostess, was also so helpful. She was very easy to reach and responded to all of our questions very quickly. We had an amazing time!

Summary: First, Rena's beachfront property, Casa Del Mar Esmeralda was every bit as beautiful as advertised. And before we even arrived Rena's hospitality was on display, as she answered several questions we had about the area: travel, security, sharks (lol), Cenotes, La Ruinas, etc. Her and her staff were very accommodating from the time we arrived, which included arrangements for my partner Melissa to actually check in a few hours earlier than me. Any questions or concerns we had were answered promptly. Perhaps most importantly her property provided a beautiful, peaceful backdrop for us to have a transcendent trip to this beautiful region of the Yucatan; we spent many hours connecting Spiritually, mesmerized by the Gulf of Mexico, moonlit nights and sunny days. We will be back soon and hopefully we'll have the opportunity to stay at Rena's beautiful Casa Del Mar Esmeralda.

Summary: This was the most satisfying VRBO property we’ve ever rented. Having lived in Mexico City in the 80s we had realistic expectations regarding utilities. The generator worked perfectly and any issues were taken care of promptly. Please be sure to use Rena’s recommendations for transportation and caterers. Carla made two outstanding meals for us and Juan was so accommodating! He drove the 8 of us to Uxmal and swimming in a Cenote. He steered us to an excellent guide at Uxmal. He was an EXCELLENT safe drive . Carla and Juan speak excellent English. We were there at a beautiful time of year. Beautiful weather. Thank you to Rena and her charming and gracious local team!

Summary: Booked this rental for a group of friends to meet up and enjoy the ocean. Overall, it was a lovely stay. The house was spacious, cute, and clean. Having the pool and private beach right there was really wonderful. We especially appreciated the individual room AC units. Kitchen was decently stocked, but had room for improvement in the spices (no pepper) and the stoves only partially working. However, there were also some concerns that, while they didn't ruin the trip, did cause a significant enough disruptions to result in plan changes. We were warned of the power outages, which luckily were minor during our stay. But, there's also nothing to serve as a backup such as a generator, or better yet, solar-panels. More concerningly though, there was an issue of the water going out intermittently for 2.5 of our 4 full days. The property manager was very responsive and the plumber came out within a couple hours each time. But it still was not fully resolved for a good portion of our stay. The other big issue is that the front door was very challenging to unlock. It would take us several minutes each time to find the right places to push and lift the door to get it. The first time we tried to unlock it from the inside it took us upwards of 20 minutes to figure it out. For us, it was just a big hassle but it could be a safety risk if someone needed to get out quickly but couldn't get the door open. All that being said, it was a lovely house that, for the most part, served our needs.

Summary: Our family enjoyed the pool and the beach, literally just walk right onto the beach and no tourists! It was nice to relax and enjoy with the family or head into town or daily excursion cenotes, Progreso, Mayan Ruins, so I recommend you rent a car. The place was clean, had plenty of space, cooking utensils, places to hang out on deck and patio/pool area and amazing sunsets! If you want to relax and enjoy yourself and avoid crowds this is a great place (private driveway fits 2 cars w/ gate) You are located in small town where everything closes by 8:00 so if you want nightlife it is only 15 minutes to Progreso. Lisandro was easy to get ahold of and gave us good recommendations or was able to take care of minor needs that came up over the week. Gave us great recommendation with local fisherman, we made fresh ceviche and took our snapper to local restaurant who cooked our catch of the day.
