Wheelwright Cottage is a pretty, snug, self-contained cottage attached to number 1, West Dean, right in the centre of a tranquil Wiltshire village. West Dean lies (literally) on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border and is almost equidistant from Romsey and Stockbridge in Hampshire and Salisbury in Wiltshire.
West Dean recently won the 'Best Kept Village in Wiltshire' from the Council for the Protection of Rural England. Number 1 overlooks the village green, enhanced by the River Dunn which flows through the centre of the village to the River Test. There are many local walks; for cyclists, the village is on the National Cycle Route 24, and there is fishing further downstream on the River Dunn and the nearby River Test.
The village has its own railway station (Dean), which is only a five-minute walk from the cottage. There is an hourly train service west to Salisbury and southeast to Romsey with a journey time of approximately 10 minutes. It is possible to connect from Salisbury to Bath and beyond, and to Southampton and Portsmouth from Romsey. If you prefer to drive, the New Forest National Park is a short drive from Dean. If you wish to visit Stonehenge there is a bus from just outside Salisbury station.

Summary: Thank you for being such lovely hosts and I have really enjoyed my stay. The perfect 1 bedroom cottage for a quiet and peaceful getaway complete with fully stocked kitchen and bathroom looking out onto a beautiful garden. Allocated parking and not far from neighbouring Salisbury, Romsey, and the Southampton area. Would highly recommend.

Summary: A nice studio where everything is there for a nice holiday. The owner is very friendly and the dog that comes by every day is very cute. In the village you will find authentic houses and in the vicinity you can enjoy walking and visiting beautiful gardens. We were impressed by Mottisfont Abbey and the sir Hillier Gardens. We had a very pleasant stay.

Summary: This was the perfect location for a two night stay to break up our journey to Essex. The studio was calm and comfortable. Patricia and her husband were perfect hosts making sure we had everything we needed. We would certainly stay here again.

Summary: The studio was small but had everything we needed during our stay and had a lovely outlook onto the garden. Patricia the owner made us feel very welcome. The location, in the beautiful village of West Dean was ideal for exploring the local area and The New Forest.

Summary: Patricia's studio was just lovely, in a fantastic location, very comfortable, with an extremely comfortable bed, and all that you may need and more. We were welcome to some delicious chocolate cake, and everything for a nice tea break. The studio is attached to Patricia's house, has an independent access through the garden which was immaculate and offering a splendid view while having breakfast! A very English garden with lovely flowers and roses. Patricia was a great host, very welcoming, giving advises and offering tips, and her Golder Retriever was just a diamond, so well behaved as well. Altogether we certainly had a lovely stay and would certainly consider coming back when we visit the area again in the future. Thank you Patricia for this great stay. :)
