Positive: The host was really welcoming. Offered us tea and homemade cake in the lovely lounge as soon as we arrived. In the room there was also a small bowl of fresh fruit, a small packet of chocolates and some homemade biscuits (the b & b is run by an ex chef and restauranteur). There was also fresh milk for tea in the room. The bed was very comfortable, with a lovely airy quilt, soft pillows and crisp white cotton sheets. There was even a dressing gown and slippers. My room was at the back of the house overlooking a pretty little garden so was very quiet. At breakfast there was freshly squeezed orange juice and more fresh fruit, plus I had the biggest omelette I have ever seen. I was stuffed!
Negative: These are only very small criticisms. Nothing they can do about it but the en-suite was quite compact. Very clean though (apart from the bottom of the shower door which perhaps could have been cleaner but it may well have been limescale which was very difficult or impossible to remove) and with some good toiletries. The breakfast room was fascinating with the old range and old map prints on the wall. I just felt it lacked a bit of warmth (not in terms of temperature). Not sure what could be done about it. Maybe some colourful cushions on the chairs and/or some small plants/flowers on the tables to give it a bit of colour/lift it. These are really minor criticisms though.
Summary: Fabulous stay in a historic house with superb hosts and great homemade treats.

Positive: So many positives. Charles and Christine are the perfect hosts - effortlessly engaging, welcoming and professional showing a genuine pride in their home and a wish to ensure guests are looked after and comfortable. Met at my car on arrival, I was shown to my room and then invited for coffee and cakes - such a lovely gesture. Car parking is plentiful and secure. The room was excellent, spotlessly clean and comfortable, quiet with a nice view over the courtyard garden. The room had everything needed with little touches including fresh fruit, chocolates, biscuits and quality tea and coffee (with a flask of fresh milk). Breakfast was exceptional - large choice with the cooked options all freshly prepared. The building itself has some fascinating history with many period features but with none of the typical drawbacks of staying in an older building. Will definitely be returning.
Negative: Nothing - everything was spot on.
Summary: Excellent - probably the best B&B I’ve ever stayed in.
