Positive: The lobby and dining area were beautiful spaces and well kept. The staff in the dining room were lovely. Refreshing drinks delivered on arrival.

Negative: Our room was poorly ventilated, with an uncomfortably high level of humidity in the air. Our clothes and sheets even felt damp to the touch. The room was also dimly lit, with little to no natural light, and no housekeeping service was provided. To make matters worse, the hot water was not working, so we had to take cold showers. Throughout the night, loud bangs in the corridor frequently disturbed my sleep. It seemed to be low season during our stay, as the hotel was very quiet with few guests around. Because of this, no hot food was available at the breakfast buffet; only items that would typically be on the buffet could be ordered, which was understandable. However, the manager appeared disorganised and flustered when taking our group’s order- she took only part of it before walking away, leaving the rest incomplete.

Positive: The heritage essence of the hotel is something we must appreciate.

Negative: Food was average, often salty and with very limited options. Stay was very pricey compared to facilities and services available in other top rated hotels in the area. Excepting the dining and kitchen staff, other staff don't know how to smile and greet the guests. Did not meet our expectations. Of my n number of times visiting Darjeeling, this was first time that the hotel disheartened me.

Summary: If you love to stay in colonial legacy, you can try, else try hundred other options in Darjeeling.

Positive: This is a brand new property with colonial architectures and heritages, opened on May, 2025. Exactly opposite to iconic Keventars. In fact, this is the only new property in Mall Road with 5 star facility. Clear view of Kanchenjunga from window, which is added flavor to stay. Staff are nice. Altogether, stay was memorable for us. We will stay again in next visits of Darjeeling.

Positive: Newly furnished property. Everything was new and rooms were well appointed. Great service by all the staff… very attentive during breakfast…special shout out to Front office team including Praveen and Sahil Gurung. Fantastic location with mall and nearby areas accessible within 5-10 minutes walk. Family room with Mountain View was 440 sq ft… by far the largest hotel room among the top (Mayfair, Elgin, Windamere) hotels in Darjeeling.

Negative: WiFi was poor (could be the hills in general). The newly installed fire sprinklers still had the protective orange covers which need to be removed as otherwise they would not perform as expected. Some of the electrical sockets were wobbly (newly installed but not adequately secured to the walls).

Summary: No. 1 leisure hotel in Darjeeling now…
