Positive: The location was good.
Negative: It needs a lot of attention to the grounds, paintwork, external stairs, bedroom carpets snd more sachets of coffee in the room. Two is not enough.Bars close at 10???? No bar for adults only

Positive: Room comfortable for the 2 nights we stayed there, everything we needed. We paid extra for a view which we got. The continental breakfast selection was very, good, with lots of choice. Good coffee. We liked the food in the bar. See next answer re cooked breakfast.
Negative: The hot buffet breakfast selection was a big disappointment, this is not new, we thought this before when we stayed. there was no taste to anything, seemed like cheap bacon, sausages etc. also not a lot for a vegetarian, my husband, not every one likes beans in the morning, or hash browns, mushrooms tasteless and overcooked, everything was overcooked, Why no cooked tomatoes? Or smoked haddock with poached egg? The trays to keep the food warm, were not easy to open and close, very old fashioned. Well past their best. A more up to date way of keeping the food hot needs to be used. The haggis and black pudding did not look appetizing, therefore I didn't have any. People look forward to a cooked breakfast when on holiday, at the Hydro it failed, badly, I would only give it 3 out of 10 for effort. The continental selection was very good, plenty of choice, no complaints there. The staff are very polite and helpful. We stay at the Hydro a lot because we like it's situation in Peebles, no problem parking, the pool is there if we want a swim. We just wish the hot food at breakfast was a lot better. We pay a lot of money to stay there, we hope for better, every time. Maybe the next time we will be impressed.

Positive: Everything was great to be honest, staff were very helpful and friendly.
Negative: The shower didn't drain quick enough, the doors in our floor were stiff and loud.
Summary: It worked very well, was comfortable, and not bad value for money. I would use again..
