Positive: The room was very spacious, in keeping with the great age of the building, very well equipped and with amazing views of the sea and the Pyrenees. Also San Sebastian airport run way was very close, and it was exciting to watch Airbusses coming in to land over the sea. I hasten to add that there were very few planes a day, and that the bedroom was totally sound proof. 20€ a day for secure parking was a bonus.

Negative: We would have loved to have patronised a restaurant as we have superb memories of the restaurants in other Paradors. When paying I mentioned that I had had a bottle of water from the fridge and was surprised that I was charged for it, as it is quite often free in many hotels. A charge point for electric cars would be a good idea.

Summary: A 'not very beautiful building' from the outside, but fascinating inside, so not to be missed.
