Positive: How to write a review of a perfect holiday. Like every year, we spent a lot of time finding the perfect holiday destination this year. When we came across Par la Rivière, we were sold. Such a beautiful B&B in a stunning location, with so many positive things to say about Catrina and Mick. In short, our expectations were high, and it couldn't have gone wrong. What we experienced on our holiday far exceeded our expectations. The location, but especially Catrina and Mick, and what they do for their guests, I won't list it all here, but they do their job with such passion. Nothing is too much trouble for them, they went above and beyond what we expected. We are therefore incredibly happy to have met these lovely people. And our holiday destination for next year is already booked, we just need to set a date. We love you Vicky and Stefan

Positive: The location of the property on the banks of the Dordogne River is magical. It’s a serene, beautiful area and the homestead is gorgeous. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay. On top of the beauty of the home and the area, the hosts, Catrina and Mick, were fabulous. They promptly and helpfully responded to written requests, greeted us upon arrival, engaged in interesting conversations, provided us with a delicious breakfast each morning, assisted with ‘little extras’ and farewelled us at the end of our stay … they were a wonderful part of the experience.

Summary: We would highly recommend this property… the location, the accommodation, the breakfast and the hosts were all wonderful

Positive: Absolutely gorgeous property with exceptional hosts. Mick and Catrina were wonderful people and went above and beyond to make our stay special. The garden view suite is very large, comfortable, with the highest quality amenities. I appreciated the bottle of wine and fresh milk for coffee in the refrigerator. The breakfast was perfect and delivered to our room every morning by Mick and Catrina. Par La Rivière is so beautiful and relaxing, we didn’t want to go out to dinner. Going to the market and eating on the terrace with wine overlooking the Dordogne River was pretty special. We will definitely be back. Three nights was not enough - tons to do and see in this part of France.

Positive: We had a fantastic stay and need to mention the English couple who run the property. Their friendliness and attention to detail is second to none. Everything that we could have wanted was already there without the need to ask. We were really made to feel the property was our own during our stay. One morning we were even treated to two hot air balloons flying really low over the garden, so much so that we had a chat with the pilot! Hopefully the property owner realises how lucky he is having a couple like this to manage the property for him.

Positive: Absolutely beautiful setting, with the lawn sloping down to the riverbank and the gorgeous salt water swimming pool just a few steps from our room. The room feels more like a cottage… set slightly apart from the main house and the design, decor and facilities are all perfect. Katrina and Mike are brilliant… nothing too much trouble and always on hand if needed plus gave lots of helpful local info

Positive: The house was gorgeous, the setting was unbelievably beautiful, quiet and serene, right on the river and across from high cliffs. Beautiful pool but not heated. The location was beautifully remote in a small rural country village but only took 8 minutes to drive to the nearest town. The hosts Catrina and Mick were enthusiastically helpful, sincere, warm and made us feel right at home. They were lovely to chat with and helped us with our daily itineraries. The breakfasts were delicious with home made pastries and eggs, coffee excellent and the fruit cup tasted like real fresh fruit. If only all B and B hosts were like them. We would definitely return.

Negative: Unbelievably lound clomping of people walking in the room upstairs sounded like a herd of elephants on our heads.

Summary: A really ideal B and B, serene, beautiful and exemplary hosts.
