Orton Hall is an extensive Grade II Listed Jacobean mansion standing in 6 acres of mature parkland and woods within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Son the southern edge of Orton, which is a delightful village nestling in the folds of the surrounding fells.. Among the house's many exceptional architectural features is the Great Hall, (2nd picture) with magnificent oak-panelled walls and ceiling.
Buckingham is a delightful,one bedroom,first floor, self catering apartment for two adults (+ child or 2),which is quietly located overlooking the front garden.
It is furnished to a high standard, unlike many holiday properties this is our own and we regularly stay to ensure that it is kept to this standard.
It comprises of : a large sitting room with original ornate fireplace , bay window with westerly views over the garden, as well as 4K Digital TV , video/DVD player & CD radio. Free Wifi .
A Spacious double bedroom with a very comfortable 5ft pine bed for which linen is provided. Also a fold out single bed. Linen for the fold out bed is not provided although there are spare pillows and one single duvet available.. Marble fireplace and again good views, the folding bed can be used in the living room.
Bathroom with full size bath & electric shower. Includes towels.
Fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and cooker as well as a radio/ cd.(a shared washing machine & tumble drier are available in the laundry room downstairs off the main hall - coin operated).
You can enjoy splendid walking from the door or take the car and discover that the splendours of the Lake District National Park are within 20 minutes' drive, as are the open fells, wooded valleys and clear streams of the Yorkshire Dales and Eden Valley. Historic Penrith, and the Georgian market town of Kendal are within 15 miles. Windermere and its lake is only 25 miles. Golf, fishing, cycling, and sailing available locally.
The extremely popular Orton Farmers Market is held every second Saturday of the month in the village.
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate dogs, although other pets are allowed.
There is no swimming pool on site at Orton Hall.

Summary: Great place to stay. Apartment was lovely and comfy for the three of us. Although no travel cot it was a great place to stay with a small baby (3 months) as big rooms all on one level and cosy. Hall is very impressive and has all facilities you need and Orton is beautiful village. Had a nice dinner at the George Hotel.

Summary: The apartment is nice and the village lovely . It was nice and quiet in the area and near the lakes which was really busy so a haven of calm to retire to. We walked on the nearby fell and enjoyed a meal at the local pub . Would recommend the apartment for 2 people .

Summary: We had an excellent stay in Buckingham in Orton Hall. The grounds were wonderful and the apartment was perfect, everything we hoped for was there. We really enjoyed it.

Summary: We arrived to find a lovely, comfortable apartment which was situated in the beautiful Orton Hall. It had all of the amenities you needed and the communications with the owner were satisfactory. The village of Orton has all you could need with a nice pub, village stores, chocolate shop and cafe. Added to that it has some nice walks. It is convenient for the M6 as well as for visiting the Lake District. We felt that it would have been more convenient to have the electricity included in the price rather than work out how much we’d used and write out cheques

Summary: Our stay at this apartment 'Buckingham Suite' was lovely. The building is amazing to look at, and the grounds great to explore and look out over. Lovely people who we chatted too, a kind gentleman who showed us his great photography of the grounds and wildlife. Apartment had everything we could have wished for, however, a small welcome hamper of tea coffee etc, would have been the icing on the cake. The area is nice, lovely chocolate factory and coffee house a short walk with lovely handmade chocs to buy. A pub called 'The George' with lovely food and well priced drinks there also, and we were greeted with a lovely warm welcome! Play area in village centre and village store. Everything for a lovely relaxing break. We will 100% be back to Orton Hall, and the Buckingham Suite.
