Summary: Pleasant stay for one night in Joensuu. The staff was very friendly (as you'd expect in Northern Carelia overall) and the hotel was clean and overall very pleasant. The room was spatious and quiet and we enjoyed the breakfast, especially the local carelian pastries.

Summary: Excellent riverside location between the railway station and the city center. Very short walking distance to the city center but rental bikes are available, too. Cozy rooms with self-adjustable air-conditioning and ventilation windows. The refrigerator of our room was quite loud. Good breakfast with local specialties like Karelian rice pastries and banana-chocolate cake by a local bakery. The restaurant with a large summer terrace is good. The pampering spa department is with an extra charge.

Summary: Room rater hot and stuffy in the warm weather, however the window opened which solved the problem! Good Wi-Fi and breakfast.

Summary: Since we went on a business trip, they came to the hotel only to spend the night. The room was large enough, we did not feel cramped. Loved the breakfasts, plentiful and hearty. The area where the hotel is located is quiet and calm.

Summary: Hotel was really good for families. Little playhouse for kids, nice sauna and swimming pool area downstairs (even though water was really cold!), good breakfast etc. Lovely view to the river from the breakfast room window. Also great location next to the railway station and city center. We enjoyed our stay and will come back.

Summary: Stayed for three nights in Joensuu. Decided to stay at Sokos Kimmel. Good hotel, good location and friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Joensuu. One of the best hotels around.
