Positive: It’s quiet and beautiful location. Seeing the Red kites flying as sun set from the conservatory was a highlight. The cosy sitting room with beams and open fire place.

Positive: Warm and welcoming accommodation and hosts. Everything we needed to make ourselves comfortable and at home. We loved the conservatory over looking the beautiful countryside with great views and wildlife. Public footpaths available on the doorstep and other attractions easy to reach by bike or car. Thame was a pleasant town and was very nearby with a good range of cafes and restaurants.

Negative: We would have liked a more modern Sofa to share but this was only a minor consideration as the furnishings were comfortable overall.

Positive: The location was wonderful! We were looking for a quiet rural retreat in beautiful surroundings and this place delivered in spades! There is a great view over the valley below. But the star of the show was the circus of birds, and we had a front row seat. I'm not particularly a birder, but they were utterly captivating, especially the red tail kites that are so impressive. The cottage is not overly spacious but was a very comfortable accommodation for the two of us. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding villages and various National Trust properties within easy driving distance. Our hosts were super friendly and helpful. Even though the cottage is rather modest (and it doesn't pretend to be otherwise), we would return in a heartbeat.

Negative: There was a bit of miscommunication about our arrival. The specific arrangements and directions to the property were not sent until very late in the game and I did not see them. We couldn't locate the property because the driveway had the name of the main house but not the rental property. I had to call the rental company for assistance, which led us to the property. Our hosts were outside looking for us to arrive and greeted us warmly. Also, it would be nice if the video options and equipment were upgraded, but that's just being picky.

Positive: All exactly as would be expected for an old cottage - which has been a comfortable unchanging base for years with all the charms, furnishing and decor of times gone by.

Negative: We needed to use the electric cooker hob to supplement the Aga - and the controlling of the hotplates beat us totally. The markings were all worn off the knobs - and whichever way we played things we found it really hard to control the heat - but that was a small glitch in an otherwise trouble free stay.
