Positive: The staff was incredible - kind, attentive, helpful. There was a language barrier, but that was navigated with phone apps and using the bits of shared language we had. The room and garden outside were beautiful and comfortable - inspiring relaxation. The location was also nice because it was close enough to the tourist spots that we could walk (20 minutes to the “Ancient City”, but still far enough away to be quiet. Also a series of good restaurants near the hotel, so always good choices to eat. Finally, there were many adorable animals - Gary the dog, the pudgy male cat, a lovely Siamese and three perfect kittens - all friendly and non intrusive, they were there if you went to them but never pushed into your space. A splendid way to complete a family friendly hotel.

Negative: Only slight dissatisfaction, and this is very slight - they only had instant coffee for breakfast. Yunnan is known for coffee and there was an unused coffee machine in the front lobby, but never any good coffee brewing to bring in the morning.
