Summary: The suite was lovely and comfortable. The gardens are well-maintained and walking through them is a relaxing pleasure. The staff is very accommodating; they served us breakfast in the room early so we could make our conference meetings. The breakfasts are delicious and not run-of-the-mill -- we particularly liked the French toast and the baked eggs casserole. The only problem is that the wi-fi goes in and out. Also the sofa bed is quite high and makes it rather uncomfortable to eat from the table. All in all, we would highly recommend this b & b and will definitely return next time we visit Monterey.

Summary: We booked the cottage suite for a few days away over the holidays. Overall we enjoyed our stay - the service was excellent, the grounds are beautiful, and getting hot chocolate/coffee/breakfast delivered to our room was a HUGE treat (also delicious). As is typical with older inns, this place has it's quirks and could use some upgrades - the shower fluctuated between freezing cold and scalding every 60 seconds, the bed was uncomfortably hard, and the layout of the cottage is a bit inconvenient - the sink is in the bedroom, the tub is fully exposed to the living room, and the toilet/shower room is in between, but door doesn't fully close. We would definitely stay again, but would try a different room.
