Summary: It was a perfect place for us. We wanted downtime together over the Thanksgiving break. It was quiet and lovely. The cabin was well stocked! Getting to DuBuque was a nice ride in the country or a quicker ride along a US highway.

Summary: The property was perfect for a quiet week to ourselves. We took advantage of the extensive hiking trails on the property and marveled at the deer, eagles, woodpeckers, and other wildlife in the woods. It was also a good base to visit all the beautiful parks along the Mississippi River in the area. Everything in the cabin was just how we needed it.

Summary: The reviews were good but do not do the property justice. This place is a rare find. The cabin is very well kept and has everything you might need. The property is amazing and the five miles of hiking trails right at your back door is something you cannot find elsewhere. The views are incredible. We loved the sense of humor the owners had when writing their rules! It is so kind for the owners to open up their amazing property for others to enjoy. You can tell that a lot of love and care goes into maintaining the cabins and the property. Thank you for letting us enjoy this!

Summary: Great for a long weekend family vacation. Cabins have everything you need and have beautiful views. We had so much fun using the kayaks and canoe on the pond. Great little getaway!

Summary: My husband and I were looking for a relaxing weekend away and this cabin was perfect! It's close to Dubuque so it's easy to go into town. We really enjoyed the whole experience and it was great to be able to relax in the hot tub!

Summary: Wonderful little cabin on a beautiful property! The cabin was well stocked with everything you could need. The property was well kept and the cabin was clean and spacious but very cozy! Some of our favorite things about the cabin were the hot tub, fireplace, and the amazing views. We enjoyed the trails even though it was winter! Will definitely return for a summer visit as well as an autumn visit!

Summary: Thankful for downtime with the family as we rang in the New Year with a few days off the grid, well at least mostly off the grid. We saw bald eagles, wild turkeys and deer along our travels. Hiking, skipping ice chunks, playing cards, and hot tub'n melted away some stress. This cabin was perfectly appointed with ample supplies to limit additional costs. We further appreciated meeting and chatting with Jim (Laura's husband). As a bonus, he provided us with firewood for the night. While the free wood was appreciated, Jim's hospitality was the real treat. We hope to make it back soon. If the cabin is this much fun during winter; I can't wait to see what it's like during the summer months.

Summary: We never would have considered Iowa a “vacation destination” but Laura’s place in Dubuque has changed our minds! The landscape is much nicer than I imagined for being so close to the mind numbing flat farms of Illinois and Iowa. The property is close to town, but feels more away than that. It takes great advantage of the views - beautiful hills and overlooks the city in the distance. It looks like there would be a lot to do in the summer and winter with hiking, the pond, the porches and decks... it was mostly cold and wet while we visited... we were not bored in the cabin and we did take a few short walks anyway :) If you don’t follow the calendar for meteor showers, check it out before you go. The hot tub is a great place to watch the stars and being that it can get quite dark here, you can see shooting stars several days before/after even the smallest meteor showers.
