The Old Barn is a recently refurbished stone cottage perfectly located in the heart of the French countryside, providing the perfect setting for a relaxed, yet fun-filled, family holiday. We also accept ONE pet in this property.
Located within easy travelling distance from all major cities, towns and attractions of the Charente Maritime, including the coast and just 5 minutes’ drive from the local market town of Matha, 15 minutes from the Romanesque splendour of St Jean d Angely and 20 minutes from the historical town of Cognac, home to the world famous distilleries of Hennessy, Remy Martin, Martell and Camus and a vast number of celebrated pineau houses and producers.
The Old Barn sits within a large, quiet plot in the heart of the village, having its own private terrace/outdoor eating area with Portuguese style stone BBQ and seating for 4 adults. Guests also use the BBQs as outdoor fire-places to further extend their outdoor living during their holiday!
The Old Barn has its own terrace and flower garden, securely fenced to all sides making it ideal for families with small children and/or those who wish to bring their pet on holiday with them.
Guests have access and use of our large 1acre garden with its 10m x 5m in-ground swimming pool, petanque court, sheltered gazebo and a range of family games equipment, including badminton and table-tennis.
Our gites have their own gated access, separate to the main family home of the owners, ensuring privacy and security. There is gravelled parking for a minimum of 2 vehicles and gates with lock.
The large garden is mainly laid to lawn with trees and flower beds and there is ample space for family activities as well as shady areas for comfort during the height of summer. Sun-loungers and tables and chairs around the pool are all provided, as is a range of pool based games equipment and inflatables.
The Old Barn sleeps 4 people. There is a large double bedroom and good-sized twin room. Cots and high chairs are available to use on request from the owners. The Old Barn has a brand new bathroom equipped with a large shower, toilet and wash basin. All bed linen and bath towels are provided, as is a beach/pool towel per person. There is a fully fitted kitchen with gas cooker, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and automatic washing-machine.
Indoors, there is a dining table with chairs for 4 adults. The lounge has sofas and relaxed seating for 4 adults. English Satellite & French TV plus a DVD player with a range of DVDs are provded and free WiFi is accessible throughout the property.
The owners live in the main house adjacent to the cottages which is separated by a gated wall for guests’ privacy. The owners are available throughout your stay to ensure you have everything you need for a great holiday!

Summary: Many thanks, Jill and Phil, for a lovely week in Lamberniere. The gîte location is both beautiful and peaceful. Plenty of walks in the Cognac vineyards on the doorstep. Especially loved the gîte grounds, including the pool, playing table tennis and boules!

Summary: We have had 10 beautiful days at Jill and Phil’s wonderful gite. Jill and Phil were absolutely amazing hosts from the moment we arrived until our departure. They made us feel extremely welcome. The gite is well equipped and the pool and gardens are exceptionally well kept and clean. The pool is a great size, great for swimming in and for the children to play in. Mons is a beautiful place and we have truly enjoyed every minute of our holiday and we hope to be back soon. Summary: We had a wonderfull and relaxing stay, the well renovated and equipped barn keeps its cool temperature during the day. Ideal located between Saintes, Angoulême and Cognac for cultural visits and shopping, walking in the vineyards, reading books along the pool or play a pingpong game in the beautifull garden. Jill and Phill are really nice people and made us feel very welcome.

Summary: We had a lovely time staying with Jill and Phil in a delightful cottage well equiped. The pool was fantastic cleaned every day in a beautiful garde setting with lots of room. Garde was extremly pretty and well cared for. Location whilst quiet was well placed for visiting all the main tourist areas in the Charente Maritime. Jill and Phil made us very welcome. We hope to stay there again next year - if they will have us!

Summary: Phil and Jill were absolutely amazing hosts from the moment we arrived until our departure. They made us feel extremely welcome. The gite is well equipped and spotlessly clean, with lovely fluffy towells. The pool and gardens are exceptionally well kept and clean. The pool was really welcome with the hot weather. Summary: A little piece of heaven on earth. We thank Jill and Phil for a great vacation. You were perfect hosts. The houses are lovingly furnished and it was a pleasure to live in them. The garden is like a painting, just perfect. Lots of opportunities to pass the time and play games. The pool was great and especially the children an important place. We felt so comfortable and would love to come back immediately!

Summary: Jakob Rees-Moog doesn't want to be "pleased to learn". He "hates" the phrase like all the others which now appear in quotation marks. "Due to" good weather and the Semaine Federale (a cycle event thousands of people like us took part) we had a "very" enjoyable week. "Hopefully" others will "equally" enjoy their stay although it is within the area Brexiteers do not like and thousands of imperial inches away from the home counties. We wish everybody after the Halloween of 2019 "Always look at the bright side of life."
