Positive: Lovely little cottage with great views. Remote, rural, peaceful. The owners were friendly and helpful and the cottage had everything we wanted for a long weekend stay. Nicely appointed, clean and tidy. The outside space was enclosed and perfect for our dog. The walk up the bridal path had stunning views, especially at sunset. If you want a peaceful escape I'd highly recommend this place.
Negative: The drive up the track is bumpy and potholed but you are warned about this before booking. We took a VW camper up there and provided you take it slow It's manageable.

Positive: The welcome pack of snacks, tea, coffee etc was perfect, every thing you could want for your stay was in the property (with one exception!)
Negative: The one thing that would have been perfect was a freezer compartment within the fridge. The fridge was great, but without the freezer bit it meant we had to eat our ice creams immediately before they melted - not a real problem for me...!!

Positive: Lovely area, beautiful views. I didn't see the host but very quick responses to emails. Very comfy bed, lovely hot shower. Ideal for touring the moors. We went in February so was very cosy and dark and so quiet...bliss
Negative: The only thing I would suggest is maybe a light of some sort to guide you down to the door. It's completely black and hard to see where the steps are. The roads were bumpy and narrow a bit scary in the dark but there was plenty of warning to this and once we'd done it once it was fine.

Positive: we loved everything about it. Exceptionally well kept, very welcoming, really tastefully furnished and spotless. Ellen is a wonderful host and very accomodating. The location is stunning and you can do beautiful walks right from the cottage. And she even offers to use a dog shower - how gorgeous is that?
Negative: nothing.
Summary: It was fantastic in every aspect and we are already planning our next stay at Nestling Barn.

Positive: Perfect, remote and quiet with everything you might need, close to Tavistock to stock up on food, and plenty to see around (if you want to). For me ideal for a reading retreat
Negative: Some people (city/urban) may find the track up to the farm a bit daunting, but if you're used to Devon and Cornwall countryside and roads it's fine.

Positive: The barn was a wonderful home from home, beautiful views outside, enclosed garden separated for each of the 2 barns, inside was clean, tidy, well looked after and had just enough basics to do what you need while staying away. I personally love how remote it is but someone who isn't used to rural back roads may be shocked. Very central Devon so not far to explore moors or a longer drive to either coast.
Negative: Both me and my son agree there wasn't anything we didn't enjoy about our stay.
