Quiet, pet friendly country house with personality and style.
Musk House is a contemporary styled property that is well appointed and very comfortable. Tastefully decorated, the house is set in established gardens which leads down to a small creek. The open planned living space is warmed by a Coonara style wood fire while the warmer months are no problem with a reverse cycle air conditioner. The kitchen has everything you might need to self cater including all pots, pans, crockery and cooking utensils and a dishwasher. There is olive oil, salt, pepper & sugar provided. There is also plunger coffee & coffee pods for the Nespresso coffee machine. The flat screen tv is usb compatible and there is a large selection of dvds for your entertainment. You can access free wifi at the property. (WiFi ID & password recorded at property) There is a Queen size bed with an en-suite bathroom. A small balcony off the bedroom is a lovely spot for your morning coffee while watching the bird life frolic in the garden. There is a sun room at the front of the house with a lovely day bed just perfect for an afternoon nap or perhaps just to read a book or magazine.
Musk House is located in the small hamlet of Musk, which is just a short distance out of town. Some of the regions major attractions are located in Musk. Passing Clouds winery is just around the corner, as is the incredible small goods farm called 'Istra' where you can purchase all your bacon, sausages, salami and other products directly from the owners at reduced prices. You will find a compendium with all of this information on the desk. A great selection of eateries, such as The Farmers Arms, Beppe, Bistro Terroir, Bar Merenda are just a short drive away. The Daylesford Hotel has the best balcony overlooking town & also a large beer garden for alfresco dining. Various bars and specialist shops and galleries line the Main Street so enjoy a browse at your own leisure.
Take the mineral waters too at the famous and historic Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa or try various treatments at one of a selection of day spas all located around the township.
Musk House is also pet friendly so feel free to bring that other member of the family with you. Please be mindful of other guests and ensure that you clean up after your dog in the garden ( doggy bags are supplied) The small garden area, accessed via the back door or through the French doors from the sun room is fully fenced and secure for your dog. The gate across the driveway adds extra security & there is some secure fencing in this garden area which should prevent your dog access to the very rear of the property which is NOT fenced. Please be sure to check this fencing to be confident it will contain your pet before letting him/her free to explore. I ask that you clean up after your dog in the garden areas. Please do not leave your dog in the house unsupervised.

Summary: Unfortunately my week's stay was tainted by inclement weather however that did not detract from the stunning gardens or the warmth and coziness of the cottage. The peaceful surroundings are condusive to wonderful relaxation. The host, Martin, kept me well informed of necessary information. He encouraged communication if required. Gaining access to the property was simple. The property does not have NBN connected as yet although it is in the pipeline. The property has a satellite dish which I found a little difficult to establish a stable internet connection. However such a minor issue did not affect my welcoming stay. Thank you Martin, you are an excellent host :)

Summary: Cosy and very comfortable for a relaxing weekend. Sun room is perfect for reading and napping. Lovely garden and front yard with lots for our fur dependent to sniff around at.

Summary: Musk House is not in Daylesford, which confused us. We had a confirmation and receipt with us but these documents had no obvious address. Musk House is in MUSK 5 mins from Daylesford. Fortunately it has a good instruction book which was very helpful and 3 heaters which we needed as the weather was freezing! The house is neat and comfortable and definitely large enough for 2 and a dog and the property is well fenced.

Summary: Musk Cottage was perfect for our escape from the city for several days. It was conveniently located close to Daylesford, but escaped the busy feeling of a tourist destination. The cabin was comfortable, with all amenities, and the Coonara heater added a terrific ambience. Martin was readily responsive to all communications. Being pet-friendly was a real bonus.

Summary: The property is as pictured( just wonderful!) My dogs loved the spacious fenced yard.Musk house is immaculately clean in & out. Crisp sheets, fluffy towels,every essential all catered for. Topping a perfect 4 day break was the wood heater & lots of extra wood too! Just heaven!!

Summary: Even though we spent most of the time in Daylesford I much preferred staying in Musk that was quiet and relaxing. The property was just right, warm and cozy in autumn. Our host was very professional and a great communicator. All I needed and nothing I didn’t want. Great area to explore.
