Negative: Buildings rundown, beyond being rustic which is what we expected.

Summary: We only stayed for about 2 hours. We didn’t feel welcome or comfortable.

Positive: We didn’t end up staying long enough to really appreciate the place. We didn’t have the breakfast nor did we try the pool. Rooms were fine. Basic but did the trick for a night’s rest. The owner was helpful to us particularly as we arrived later than planned and departed very early in morning.

Positive: The grounds are lovely, tucked away in a private piece of jungle. The pool is very clean and nice, and the units provide opportunity for solitude with ample privacy. The very best thing about Monkey Lodge is the family that runs it. They are so accommodating and kind, and have a great deal of knowledge. We had tours with the father and son, and both tours were incredible. (take their advice and get up and out early for tours) I had some confusion with transports to other locations, and the family was incredibly helpful in straightening out my mess, even after I departed the lodge. It was a totally awesome experience, and I will return for a visit.
