Knotty and Nice Log Cabin is a 2100 sq ft, 3 bedroom 2 bath property. It is set in a peaceful neighborhood on a 3.5 acre lot nestled among the towering Ponderosas of the San Juans. This ideal mountain vacation cabin is 10 minutes from downtown Durango, 12 minutes from Lake Nighthorse, 16 minutes to Hesperus Ski Area and 40 minutes to Purgatory Ski Resort. The woods are your backyard where wildlife abounds. Lake Nighthorse is open to swimming, fishing, boating and more, spanning more than 1,500 acres. The lake offers endless opportunities for fun or relaxation: How you enjoy the waters is up to you.
Enjoy the convenience of a fully equipped kitchen after a long day of playing in the mountains. There is a lower level walkout bonus room making it easy to spread out and find your own space.

We are implementing a strict "one strike" policy for any guest that are found having any unauthorized gatherings, pets, or guest with them in the home. Failure to disclose any of the stated above will result in immediate termination of stay with no refund being issued for unused nights.

Cancellation Policy:
If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes that are made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival will receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee. Between (29) days and fifteen (15) days before arrival, guest will be refunded 50% of the reservation amount. (14) days or less to arrival, no refunds given.
For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date to receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee Cancellations made between thirty-one (31) days in advance of your arrival and (59) days will receive a 50% refund.

Summary: This is one of the best vacation rentals we’ve had - lovely, quiet setting yet close enough to town, very clean and neat, very functional for our needs. Only one minor issue for us was dialing in the radiant heat system zones at night but we were ultimately able to get things comfortable. Even with this minor issue, it was a great stay.

Summary: Beautiful house, clean and well equipped with comfortable beds and good showers. Every window offered a great view. My Texan family learned that all weather tires are not as good in offering grip on snow as winter tires do… but the roads are very drivable.

Summary: Beautiful cabin that is updated with great features and plenty of space. It has everything you need inside from games and puzzles to kitchenware to plenty of towels and pillows. The hosts are very helpful and responsive. The location is perfect because you feel like you are out of the wilderness, but yet still so close to everything to do in Durango. Our group had adults and kids, and they place was great for all of us. Would love to stay here again!!

Summary: The location was perfect for our family - far enough from town for a peaceful stay, yet close enough for an easy trip to the nightlife and shopping of Durango. With exposed beams and some unique log cabin touches, the cabin had a rustic feel but was thoroughly modern with updated appliances and features, like a heated floor in the master bath and multiple individual smart thermostats throughout the space. It was also immaculate. Hats off to the cleaning and maintenance crew. Everything was well cared for, with plenty of high-quality sheets and towels. There was more than enough room for our family of five, and the one-car garage came in handy when a snowstorm rolled through on the last night of our stay. Yes, the tap water had a sulfur smell, but we'd read the reviews and were prepared. There's a filter by the kitchen sink and plenty of bottled water, so no issues at all. We'd absolutely recommend this place to other families or groups.

Summary: Cabin was in a beautiful, restful location and had all amenities of a high end, modern home with the charm of its history left unspoiled. Location is great - out of the city but close enough. Only very small complaint was the sulphur smell in the water. Drinking water is absolutely fine and lots of extra provided. This is just a natural part of well water but could be a problem for some with an aversion to it. The window views are gorgeous and the heated master bath floor is a surprise treat! The kitchen is outfitted with everything you could possibly need. We will definitely be back - loved this place!
