The architecture of the luxury country house combines the tradition of Galicia with modern, light-flooded design and every comfort for an unforgettable vacation. The dream property is located in the idyllic village of Crendes (Abegondo) 500 meters from Lake Cecebre, 15 km from La Coruna and 8 km from the nearest beach (Gandarío - Sada). In 5 minutes you can drive to the nearest town Betanzos with its beautiful old town center (cafes, bars, supermarkets and numerous shops etc.).
With its 260 square meters of living space, 3 bedrooms (for 6 people), two bathrooms, a separate toilet, the spacious kitchen, the impressive open living room with large window front, 1 balcony, 2 terraces, 1 hectare of garden space and garage (2 cars) no wishes open. The newly built outdoor pool with the spacious terrace rounds off the holiday experience perfectly. They have comfortable, spacious garden furniture that invites you to a relaxing day at the pool.
The bedrooms:
There are two bedrooms on the ground floor: both with a double bed and pool view and a spacious shower room. A third bedroom "the suite" is on the upper floor and has a walk-in closet, as well as a toilet and an extra bathroom with bath and shower.
The living area:
The large living room is the heart of the house. It invites you to relax, read or sit together. There is also a fireplace here for winter. Just let us know if you want to use it. There is a studio on the top floor, ideal if you want to work in your free time. From there you have access to a separate, secluded terrace.
The kitchen:
The kitchen is fully equipped. You will find everything you need to cook there. Also a portafilter coffee machine for espresso and a kettle. From the kitchen you can access the small patio via the sliding glass door - the ideal place for an extensive breakfast.
The pool:
In 2016 we built an outdoor pool right next to the house. It is 9 m long and 4.5 m wide. The pool has lighting, which makes it very pleasant to sit and relax on the terrace in the evenings. Around the pool there is a spacious terrace with outdoor furniture - two garden sofas / loungers that were specially made for the terrace.
Surroundings:
The house is in an ideal location from which to explore Galicia and be fascinated. You can make various day trips, whether to the coast or inland to the vineyards or historic towns of Galicia. If you want, we will be happy to give you individual tips for your vacation. We spend a lot of time there ourselves and know the region like the back of our hand.
Please note that there is no internet connection in the house. We intend to do this because sometimes we just want to be offline ourselves and relax so much more.
Please also note that barbecuing in the garden is unfortunately not allowed. It is a protected area. We ask for your understanding because of the risk of forest fires.

Summary: My stay at Casa Macenda has been the best vacation rental experience of my life, and I’ve been renting vacation homes for many years. The house is fabulous, a marvel of architecture, decorated with great style, and designed with a family’s comfort in mind down to the very last detail. The spaces are comfortable and functional, full of light, and always offer views of the stunning garden from anywhere in the house. The rooms are perfectly sized and very comfortable, as is the kitchen, which is fully equipped. And the workroom is an absolute dream.Outside, the pool is beautiful and a joy to use, with an adjacent lounge and dining area that we made the most of for sunset dinners. The garden is simply spectacular—huge, impeccably maintained, with perfect grass and trees that enhance the landscape just the right amount.And the hosts were fantastic—always attentive to our comfort, with smooth and flawless communication, and with people nearby ready to help with any detail.Without a doubt, we will be coming back. I recommend this house wholeheartedly for any stay in the area.

Summary: Everything was fantastic from the communication ahead of our stay, connecting with Leonor who helped us check in and out (even met us at the local church to escort us to the property and even took our trash and recycle upon departure), flexibility with our dates (thank you!), to the house, which is wonderful. It is modern, well designed, the garden and pool spaces are luxurious and this house was the perfect place to relax after walking from San Sebastián to Bilbao on the Camino de Santiago. Summary: We were a family of four persons and spent 13 nights in this home. The garden is huge and the pool is well-kept and chin-deep so you can really enjoy swimming. The house is modern, spacious and the kitchen has everything you need for self-catering. The shower is quickly warm. The garage can hold two cars. The location is easy to find if you follow the instructions. Initially we relied on the hired car's navigation system, which was a route to be avoided in future. Some of the recommended locations to visit are rather far away - you might prefer to spend a few days just enjoying the house and pool instead of burning fuel. The local supermarkets in Betanzos had everything we required. Just to cover a few minor negative points... TV reception is limited to Spanish channels. The house lacks WiFi though you can rent a mobile Internet device in Betanzos if needed. I found the mattresses in the two bedrooms downstairs somewhat short for adults. The freezer and the oven in the kitchen are rather old but still functional. However all-in-all these do not affect the overall rating. We all felt relaxed in this wonderful modern home, especially on hot days with the pool to enjoy. Both Oscar and Marija were extremely helpful, not to mention his parents also. Everything worked out perfectly and we saw some of the highlights: Santiago de Compostela (tip: visit in the late afternoon and you won't have to wait 1 hour to enter the cathedral as there are no queues, besides the sun now shines on the cathedral front), La Coruña, the northern coastline, Fisterra, Sanxenxo. Be aware that neither Google Maps (nor the hired car's SatNav) are aware that the AG-55 motorway now extends much further in the direction of Fisterra.
