3 Bedroom House in Val-des-Monts

Modern lake house with cottage character on a beautiful Canadian Shield Lake, Lac Rheaume in Val-Des-Monts, QC, only 40 minutes to downtown Ottawa. Deep, clean weed free swimming off the dock. We provide complimentary use of 2 kayaks, 4 paddle boards (3 adult, 1 kids), a canoe and rowboat to explore our pristine lake with approximately 15 small islands, which is also connected by a creek to Lac Battaille. Construction of the interior of our modern cottage with cottage character was completed in 2017. The main living room/dining area has dramatic 20 foot cathedral ceiling, hardwood floors, large windows, and a stone fireplace with a cozy Napoleon high efficiency wood burning fireplace. There are beautiful views of the lake and surrounding hills from the front deck and screened-in porch. The Lakhouse has a fully equipped kitchen with a large convection oven, microwave and diswasher. A large propane barbeque is locsted on one of the two decks. Our cottage is situated high above the water. There is a fairly steep walking path down to the lakefront that is not suitable for people with mobility issues. While we are welcoming hosts, if you are looking for a cottage to have a big party gathering, this is not the place for you. We want to be respectful of our neighbours and our lake. New in 2024 is an outdoor 6 person electric sauna!

Summary: I, my husband, and four of our friends stayed for a long weekend and had an amazing time. The cottage is beautiful and exactly as pictured. The lake is incredible and was fantastic for a swim, especially with the really hot weather over the weekend. It's a gorgeous area, close enough to the city to be convenience but far enough out to really feel remote and out of the way, and the natural landscape is magnificent. The cottage is very comfortable and has all the amenities you could need. Cannot recommend it highly enough!

Summary: We just returned from a wonderful week at this charming cottage, and we can't wait to go back! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and relaxed. Jason was a fantastic host, incredibly friendly and easy to communicate with. He even had the indoor fireplace ready for us on a chilly night and providing an extension cord for our EV. The cottage itself was perfect for our needs. We loved spending evenings playing pool in the basement and cozying up by the fire. Having an abundance of firewood readily available meant we could enjoy the fireplace without any hassle. The lake was the highlight of our trip! The water was crystal clear, and we had so much fun exploring the many little islands by canoe. The road down to the dock is a bit steep, but trust us, the view and easy access to the water are worth it. We visited in early October, and the fall foliage was just starting to turn – it was absolutely breathtaking paddling through the vibrant colors reflected on the lake. We did experience a brief power outage, but Jason was quick to reassure us that it's a normal occurrence in the area and it was resolved within minutes. The electric heating in the cottage kept us nice and toasty throughout the night, even with the cooler autumn temperatures. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway.

Summary: The house is very clean and well stocked with towels and linens. The kitchen has plenty of plates, bowls, pots/pans and utensils for cooking family meals. We enjoyed the paddle boards, kayaks, noodle, and fishing boat along with PFDs in all sizes. Easy to enjoy being on the lake all day!

Summary: Cabin was beautiful and very well equipped. The hosts Jason and Cindy made the stay stress free with lots of notes around the property and easy communication. Property had plenty to keep us busy including countless board games, a pool table, kayaks, a boat and paddle boards, and a fire pit with plenty of wood. Kitchen was well equipped as well. The screened in porch, deck, and dock were all perfect to hang out on. Would definitely stay here again!
