Summary: Really soft pillows. Not easy to sleep on and the toilet was high off the floor. Very nice employees!

Summary: I stayed at the Knickerbocker during a summer conference and found it to be a solid, historic hotel with a lot of charm and a few quirks. The location is excellent—just steps from the Magnificent Mile and close to Lake Michigan, which made it easy to enjoy both the conference and the city’s attractions. What I liked: The lobby and public spaces are beautiful, with that classic old-Chicago elegance. The room was clean and comfortable, with a good-sized bathroom and surprisingly quiet for being so close to downtown. The staff was polite and helpful throughout my stay. The price was very reasonable for the location—great value compared to many nearby hotels. A few things to note: It’s an older building, and some of that shows—things like slower elevators, vintage fixtures, and smaller closets. The resort fee is cheaper than most area hotels but won’t provide many additional services. The air conditioning worked fine, but it was a little loud at night. Overall, I’d recommend the Knickerbocker to anyone who values location, character, and affordability over luxury. It’s a great choice if you want a comfortable, classic hotel experience in a central area without paying high-end prices.

Summary: The valet service and employees were amazing and super friendly. There was a protest happening outside when we pulled up for valet and they made us feel more at ease and comfortable during that stressful situation. The hotel overall was nice, room was clean, bed was comfortable. The only thing we didn't like was the shower, the showerhead was in the middle and it was just very odd. We were in town for a concert and would definitely stay here again!

Summary: Beautiful older hotel so near to the beach and Michigan Ave. So much in walking distance. Outstanding staff. Lobby bar, restaurant and ice water near front desk. Elevators and rooms small but expected due to age. Very happy to have stayed here. Extremely charming. Would return. Across the street from The Drake Hotel but I assume not near the price.

Summary: The only major issue we had was that the original room they had us in did not have a fridge. We pointed this out to them and they corrected the issue. We also were not thrilled that they charge a daily "convenience fee" just for staying in the hotel.

Summary: It was an overall good stay. The shower was not clean.

Summary: They drop their rates just to add destination fees. They won’t tell you that unless you ask or until you get there. It’s $24 a night and $100 deposit per night. The hallways are dark, the rooms are old and dusty. It is 2025 and they still have chairs and decor from the 1980s. It’s extremely dusty in the rooms. The vents are filled with dust. The carpets are old and uncleaned. The cleaners and doormen were amazing. The front desk women seem to hate their jobs. When I asked about the unexpected fees the two women smirked and mumbled something when I turned my back. People work hard to go on vacation and it’s unfortunate to get it stained by people who hate their jobs. Important information: We stayed there for 2 nights and on the beginning of our 2nd night we came to our hotel room door AJAR. No, we did not leave it open on our way out. The doors shut automatically on their own. It was terrifying to come back to the door left open. The security did come up and check the room for us. But there was something so off about the situation

Summary: Great location & very helpful & professional staff.

Summary: Hotel was very nice, staff were friendly and helpful, location was great. Expensive, but I guess that's Chicago.
Matthew Jun 24, 2025 09:19:56 PM
