Positive: Location good - center of town and a friendly Applebee's next door. Staff friendly and responsive. Bed comfortable. Very nice seasonal decorations in the lobby

Negative: Napped on the hideabed sofa in our room - got bug bites. That was a first for us. 2 night stay and had to go down to front desk to ask for toilet paper. (Also only 1 piece of Kleenex in the box when we arrived.) Minimal towels. Breakfast dismal - only waffles and a few dry looking pastries. Internet wifi ok but it would not connect to our TV Fire Stick - unusual. (Most of the hotel's tv channels were sports or kid stuff.) Price was elevated presumably for the Oktoberfest weekend, as expected, but we did not feel like we got good value.

Summary: Not great.

Positive: Staff was friendly. Lots of options for breakfast

Negative: Pool area was not clean, the larger pool was cold and there were no towels in the pool area. Ice machine by breakfast area was broken and inner part of machine was exposed. Major street construction nearby prevented us from getting there easily.

Summary: It was a good deal but I don't know we would stay there again

Positive: They're undergoing renovations now, but I can say that both our rooms were very nice and clean and comfortable. Friendly staff, good hotel breakfast. Love the window alcove in our room, and love the fact that the curtains were really black out curtains. The regular lighting in the room was decent too. I hate hotels that have cut back on lighting to the point that you can't read a book at night.

Negative: Not so much a complaint but a comment. The "hot tub" was cold. The guy on duty called the manager who had him check some stuff and he found that the heat had been turned completely off. No idea why. He turned it back on, and we stuck around to have a slightly warmer experience. We were craving a nice jacuzzi, but it wasn't the end of the world. We enjoyed our two night stay in New Ulm, and found that not just hotel staff but wait staff at the Perkins and Applebees next door are also really nice.

Summary: Would recommend. Especially as they're doing a great job upgrading and renovating.
