Positive: It is located in the forest, but the road to it by car is a real challenge. But the terrain is really beautiful. We heard a lot of birds. In front of the restaurant they have a feeding spot for the birds, we saw most of our birds there. During the birdwatching tour we didn't see any new ones unfortunately.The staff and guides were very nice. The lodge itself was nice. For breakfast you have different options and it was tasty. Dinner was also good. In the way back when we went by boat to the opposite side of the river where the car was parked, the captain drove a bit further to show us the crocodile chilling on the shore. It was very nice!

Negative: The shower had very low pressure. Half of the terrain is closed and only approachable with a guide, so doesn't leave you with many options to explore the park yourself. It would be nice to have a sign at the entrance to the parking that you can drive all the way to the pier to unload the luggage. We didn't know it, so we parked the car and then carried the suitcases down the road.

Positive: We had a tree house, which is awesome! You’ll see monkeys passing by in the morning. Staff is extremely friendly. Beautiful surroundings.

Negative: The night walk tour consists of 1,5 hours walk on the main roads of the resort. Heavily overpriced at $50 pp. Lunch at the restaurant is fine, but dinner is really below par, a restaurant like that would never survive in any place with competition.

Positive: Virginia makes a great welcome. All efforts are made by her and her staff to meet a bird photographers special needs! Henri Antonio was enthusiastic and knowledgeable bird guide with extraordinary effort to help with cumbersome photo gear! Great bird spotting areas! Great Costa Rican hospitality warm gracious kind and patient!

Negative: Marcus a bird guide had no respect for birds or photographer. Shined green spot on bird I was photographing! Bird flew Brought his tour into area Antonio and I set up hours earlier when he had many other choices. Very poor example unlike all others at hotel.

Positive: This was a highlight of our trip. We decided to splurg on a treehouse room and it was soooo great. Most of the food is grown on-site. The chocolate/coffee tour is a must.

Positive: I was a little surprised at how big this place was, a large dining area, lots of different bungalows, an international dinner menu etc. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The room was good (though linen needed updating) and the main thing you go for is wildlife. The birding was extraordinary. You can be eating breakfast ten meters from a yellow throated toucan and myriad other birds flying in the feed. The staff are all very well trained and the operation is super slick. The pool is small but fine for a dip with the kids. The kayak trip down the 3A river was superb. Guide Luis was super enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable - a great asset. We saw lots (including a perching king vulture). Trails around the campus are good and free canoe for lagoons a good touch.

Negative: Minor but lacked accessible sockets in rooms.

Summary: Incredible place to stay and watch birds in comfort.
