' Manoir' is an elegant yet comfortable Maison bourgoise which offers ideal accommodation for a small adult or family group to enjoy spacious, relaxing surroundings. It is perfectly located near to Nuits St Georges and the legendary Burgundy Wine Trail . Built in the 18th century by the Count de Balon , the main rooms have feature high ceilings with oak beams and a great feeling of light from the tall twin aspect windows . The 2000 square metre gardens are walled, south -facing and secluded with many places to sit and sunbathe, read and relax. There is an outdoor pool area with a terrace and a barbecue area for al fresco evenings. If you prefer eating out there is an outstanding choice of restaurants of high quality and reasonable price within a short drive. Located at just a few minutes from exit 1 on the A31 we are at the centre of a motorway hub which means that you can plan a great programme of visits yet minimize the time spent travelling.

Summary: Fantastic old house - really quite grand! The owners - who live extremely discreetly in a separate wing - are utterly delightful and even brought us some garden veg and tomato sauce! We would revisit. The other reviews (and the owners' reply) are accurate in relation to the style of the house. We liked it but if you want modern interiors it isn't for you! Our only comment is that some of the rooms were a bit dusty and a new hoover might help. But this should not detract from, overall, a lovely stay. The area is also great.

Summary: We had a fabulous holiday in this beautiful and stylish manor house decorated with excellent taste in keeping with the period and grandeur of the house (the fireplace could be in a castle!). We had everything we needed. The owners live at the side of the property but were extremely discrete and respectful of our privacy. The surrounding country-side is breathtaking and very varied and we went for some amazing walks and cycles. We highly recommend this house for those wishing to explore the vineyards near Beaune and Nuits-St-Georges or who just wish to relax in the lovely garden of the house and plunge in the pool now and then! Many thanks to Mike and his wife for our fantastic holiday.

Summary: Let me first establish my biases. I love older houses with character. I like houses with property,quiet and privacy. This house delivers. It has beautiful high ceilings, with timbers. If you want the modern hotel experience, this is not for you. However if you share my biases, I felt instantly relaxed and at ease in this home. We brought bikes, and could easily ride to Nuits Saint Georges or the Velo wine route. The best part are the hosts. They could not be more welcoming or friendly!

Summary: We had a sublime stay at the house. The house is spacious, clean and has a nice authentic interior design. The kitchen is well equiped and ideal for cooking your own meals, there was also a barbecue we could use. The garden is huge with lots of space in the sun as well as in the shade, lots of sitting places, and the pool is great and very refreshing. The house is located close to a small village and is therefore quiet with lots of privacy. Within a short drive there are nice places to visit such as Beaune and Dijon. The hosts Mike and Hiroko were very welcoming, kind and checked whether everything was as okay during our stay. We would highly recommend staying at Mike and Hiroko's house!

Summary: We have had a wonderful week with 8 people in kind of castle. Tips: Furniture really needs an update like matrasses and beds, shower downstairs kept flooding and windows kept flying open with storm. It lies beautifully in quiet area, pool and garden with flowers well kept. Good parasols. Nice villages and stores closeby. Thank you for a wonderful week Mike and Hiroko, sorry that we did not say goodbye!

Summary: This was the perfect retreat for us 8 friends to spend a week in the heart of Burgundy. Many sights/locations within easy day-trip distance. Accommodations were great. The kitchen was great and well stocked with utensils, pots, pans, etc. We cooked a lot. The place was gorgeous and we enjoyed it immensely. Unfortunately the weather did not allow us to enjoy the pool and outside seatings areas much, but they would have been great.

Summary: Excellent communication and hospitality from the owners, Mike and Hiroko. They were very helpful if required and gave lots of varied recommendations to enjoy whilst visiting the area. Booking in and out was also extremely straightforward and relaxed. The house is in a good location for exploring vineyards and sight seeing. It is also a perfect place to relax whether in the house, around the pool or in the large garden. There are also plenty of dining or seating areas in the sun or shade. Our extended family group of 8 adults had a really lovely stay.

Summary: We spent two wonderful weeks at Manoir in July, the weather was perfect and the location stunning. The house has everything you could need, we had more than enough room for our large family. The kitchen provided all the equipment we needed for family cooking and there are many places to eat both inside and out depending on the time of day and heat. The pool is lovely and kept clean by Mike who was always on hand if we needed anything. Beds are super comfortable (we had a memory foam mattress) and there is plenty of wardrobe space. Highly recommend to anyone wishing to explore this area of Burgundy, 10 minute drive into Nuit St Georges and 20 minutes to Beaune. Property is in a small 'hamlet' surrounded by fields, very quiet and relaxing.
