Positive: A stunning location, Julie couldn’t have been more accommodating. Due to late check in, julie recommended and booked a reservation at a stunning restaurant in the local village (La Taverne) which is a must if you’re staying here. You will need to hire a car to get around as taxis are limited, which wasn’t a problem for us. Accommodation was comfortable and spacious also

Positive: Great location, staff are so friendly and helpful, very close to some wonderful villages and river beaches. Pizza and crepes night good. Very little light pollution so wonderful star filled nights. Nice pool, everything very close together

Negative: Advertising of property miscommunicated on Booking.com Property (Distillerie) not suitable for toddlers and younger despite baby gates on main staircase as three other sets of steps, one into kitchen with hard stone floor which is an injury hazard. This meant we spent most of the time trying to stop our toddler from hurting himself. Exceptionally hot weather (obviously not the fault of the property) meant that top floor where living/dining area and one bedroom was essentially unliveable. Only two fans available (family next door purchased their own one). We were restricted to staying on the ground floor because of the heat meaning more exposure to trip/falls hazard. One “play area” is really a square enclosure with a plastic slide and a swing. The play barn (crèche) is not open for independent play. The “sports barn” is really an empty barn used for events with two basketball hoops. Wedding event on last night of stay went on till late and very noisy. Shallow swimming pool floor needs refurbishment. This is an enclave for British holidaymakers and so not really any immersion in French culture/society.

Positive: We appreciated the kids club (which our children enjoyed), the various meal nights and the daily boulangerie deliveries. Very child friendly and in a nice part of France. Our cottage was comfortable and clean.

Negative: The gite could have been better equipped (we had to ask for a cafetière) and the children’s play areas could do with a bit of sprucing up, especially the small one near the bar terrace which only had a couple of pieces of equipment. The baby splash pool needs a new liner.
