Positive: I’ve stayed here several times when I’m in Bangkok because I like the location and it’s affordable! There’s a water dispenser downstairs! Netflix available :)

Negative: There’s no little refrigerator in the rooms, only shared on first floor. Wish they’d get small refrigerators in all rooms, would make the stay much better. Unfortunately someone took both my water bottles from the refrigerator even if I had labeled my room number on the cap :( This is why you can’t have shared refrigerators. I told the workers but it was hard to explain due to language barrier. There were small tiny ant like insects in the bathroom, and in the bedroom and near the tv, walls and in front of the door. It gave me goosebumps, and everytime I killed 2, 10 more appeared 🥲 One time I ordered pizza and put the pizza aside near the tv for just a few minutes and when I went to grab it to put it fownstairs in the refrigerator, I saw there were ants inside the big bag and inside the pizza box :( Had to throw it all out. They were on the walls as well sadly. This was the worst part of the stay. I dont recall having these ants in the cracks of the walls and everywhere the other times I’ve stayed here.. Linens arent changed unless you ask them to change it. I stayed for like 2 weeks and I was wondering why they werent changing the sheets every 3 days like most places, but then made a note and it was done. Beds are unfortunately super hard. Not enough toilet paper is given. I remember years ago, they would give extra rolls but now they only give one, even if you’re staying for long. I asked for extra but didnt get any. I just started buying toilet paper myself. Sometimes sewage smell in the bathroom and it’s kind of dirty in the corners etc. Of the bathroom.

Positive: Not so far from metro. Clean. Quite. Enough space in the room.

Negative: Wc stinks (i mean,when is not used). No fridge in the room. You cannot eat in the room. If you check maps, it seems to be a good location, but the truth is that you will live in unsave surroundings and dirty everywhere in the strees.

Positive: The hotel is located in a small side alley right in chinatown. The room was very clean, everything was in good condition and we had enough space for our luggage and clothes. Water pressure was more than enough, a/c, WiFi and tv in the room all worked well. We were on the fourth floor and grateful for the elevator. On the ground floor you can refill your bottles with filtered water. The receptionist was very polite and helpful. Just around the corner are hundreds of food stalls to make everyone happy, so we never tried the coffee at the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay at Mangkon Hostel and highly recommend staying here!

Negative: There are only two very minor things that could be improved: a mosquito net for the bathroom window would be great and a way to prevent the light of the staircase leaking into the room.
