Positive: The fact that they have a proper cigar room and jazz bar is enough to convince me to book again there. The hotel, room and facilities are exactly how you expect form a top notch 5 star hotel.

Negative: You could not smoke at the restaurant near the river.

Positive: The Mandarin Oriental was an absolute delight. Elegant, understated, beautifully managed. Breakfast was stunning with an amazing array of dishes and an even finer position right on the river. The fruit juices were superb, eggs perfectly cooked, delicious pastries and melt in the mouth dim sum. We loved everything. The swimming pool is a wonderful size with very comfortable loungers. The bar and cocktails were great. Our room was very comfortable.

Negative: Not surprisingly the pool gets very busy quickly. There was a very loud music festival across the river which did spoil our riverside dinner at the restaurant and some of the time by the pool because of the noise. It would have been nice to be warned about this as I would not have booked that dinner.

Positive: I booked a night here for my 18-hour layover in Bangkok and was absolutely blown away - the service, attention to detail, and stunning interiors were definitely a highlight. The staff went above and beyond in helping me get a dinner reservation in the city, fit in a hotel spa booking (Massage was a 10/10), and give recommendations. This has to be one of my favourite hotel stays I've had in a while. I will definitely be back!
