This historic farmhouse is surrounded by farm animals and sits by creek side. Experience real farm life and get away from the hustle and bustle! It brings back memories of being at grandma's house for many. If you've never experienced what it was like, come experience it for yourself!
OR, If you're heading to Doe Mountain Recreation Center or somewhere else in the area, there's plenty of parking, easy access off of a main road, and about 10 min. away.

Hands-on farm experiences are available by appointment. Your choice of gardening 101, animal interaction, and farm history tours.
A washer and dryer is included in the unit.
Wake up to the birds chirping and enjoy your morning coffee or tea on the front porch or back patio in a farm setting with the chickens!!
The house & driveway are located on a flat, 1/2 acre lot with plenty of space for the kids to play. You will arrive and pull up to the side-porch where you will find a museum-like of vintage appliances displayed. Once entering into the kitchen, you will see a fresh coffee bar with condiments and a farmhouse table, large enough for a fresh, homemade breakfast. Enjoy games and historical books from the living room cabinet. In the front bedroom is a full size bed, leading to the back bedroom where there is a queen bed and a unique, vintage suitcase table.
Adjoining the other side of the front bedroom is the laundry room where you can enjoy doing laundry with a view of the pasture and animals. The guest towels are displayed in a vintage suitcase on the wall.
The one bathroom with a single vanity adjoins the laundry room that also allows a view of the honey bees in addition to the other farm animals.
The kitchen is equipped and fully stocked with everything you would need during your stay. Microwave, refrigerator/freezer, a four burner stove with oven.
Enjoy relaxing on the front porch with 2 rockers.
Directly behind the house there is an outdoor patio with a gas grill and firepit. From there, there's also a great view of the animals. There also stands the old Smokehouse & Spring House. Century old grapevines wrap around the buildings. Other original buildings on the farm are the Woodshed, Chicken Coop, Outhouse, Grading House, Granary, & Tobacco Barn.

Summary: From check in to our amazing nights rest we felt welcomed and part of the family. We will one day be neighbors, but Debbie made us feel like family. We loved seeing the cow and chickens in the mornings. Debbie had a welcome sign in the kitchen with our names on it... lovely touch. When my husband lost his phone Debbie went above and beyond and helped us find it. Mountain City and the surrounding towns were hit hard with Helene, but they are rebuilding and will be better than ever. We will be back very soon. Thank you, Debbie!

Summary: Honestly, we only accessed the house at night. Beds were comfy and host was really good to accommodate our specific needs. We were part of a men's team and our accommodations at a local hotel were canceled so repair contractors coming into the are had a place to stay. We come up twice a year to minister to the inmates at the local penitentiary. Debbie I will probably call you in the spring to book again. Thanks. We enjoyed Mamaw's place much better than the local hotel.

Summary: House was as described. Our son was participating in a paramotor fly in that was held at the Johnson County Airport which was an easy 10 minute drive from the home. If the house is available the next time we are in Mountain City, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Summary: If you need to get away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place for you! It was quiet enough that I slept like a rock! The best rest I’ve had in a long time. Debbie had coffee along with creamer and sugar available to use. The kitchen has everything you need to cook. The best is that it has stainless steel pots so you’re not having to worry about nonstick being all scratched up to the point you can’t use it. We enjoyed watching the farm animals each morning while drinking coffee. Debbie was great to help if needed and make suggestions for the area. We have stayed in numerous Vrbo rentals. By far, this was the best place we have ever stayed and we will definitely be back.

Summary: Mid-May, 2024. Clean, neat house. Plenty of room in each room. Everything electronic worked. 3 complaints: (1) The map location on Vrbo (pre-booking) was misleading as it appeared to be much closer to the center of town and our daily destination (out Church St./Divide Rd.) than it actually was. The actual location was about twice as far from out daily destination as we thought it would be. (2) The entry instructions were confusing, so we had to call the owner upon arrival (lucky we had cell service). (3) The top sheet on the queen bed seemed like a double bed sheet, as it was not wide enough to cover two people. Aside from these three things, we enjoyed our stay at the house and would recommend it.
