Summary: We rented this house to celebrate my mom’s 82nd birthday and made this clear at the beginning. The location is beautiful; the river the landscape (although poorly maintained) was exactly as we expected. The house was nice and clean which was appreciated. However, when we walked in there was the most awful noise coming from the a/c unit downstairs. The house was extremely hot and we thought the a/c was going to explode. It was dripping water inside the house in the dining area so we placed towels to mop it up and I contacted the host. His response to me was, “well the prior tenant didn’t have any problems with it so I’m not sure what to say.” We shut the a/c off for the entire evening and most of the next day (96 degree temps) and then tried it again and it started working properly. We did as the host instructed and used the swamp cooler in the evenings, however it was in such disrepair that the noise kept us up most of the night. They had a sprinkler leak that made the only access (steps)to the river extremely treacherous. The refrigerator barely worked the entire stay and at one point stopped working all together. The dishwasher was not secured and falling out of the cabinet and when we did go to use it there was no dishwasher soap to be found. The final straw was when the coffee maker took over an hour to brew a single pot of coffee. (Insult to injury). Property has tons of potential but should not be rented to unsuspecting folks unless properly maintained.

Summary: This place has the best location. Easy to swim this river. Short drive up river to put inner tubes and float back down to this cabin. Lots to do! Wish we stayed longer

Summary: Enjoyed our visit and exploring the Trinity-Shasta Natl Forest. The property was very nice and clean with all essentials provided. That being said, it is due for some maintenance. The main furnace was not being used. We did not try to light it, so I don’t know if it is operational. There were space heaters throughout the building, a wall unit, an electric fireplace and a wood stove in the upstairs. The upstairs loft area stayed quite comfortable, but the downstairs would get a little chilly at times. Other than that minor issue, we had no problems and enjoyed our stay.

Summary: This is my third visit to this property and I’ve enjoyed each visit tremendously. The cabin is well stocked with anything you may need during your stay. Beautiful views from the wrap around porch and the river is only a few feet from your door. It’s a great get away and has a feel of a home away from home.
