Idler’s Retreat, also known as the Dillon-Tucker-Cheney House, a rare jewel in Middle TN, is situated in the Front Street District in Smyrna. Built in 1865, much of the original structure, flooring, and doors and hardware remain. This inviting home will always be remembered as a haven to scores of brilliant minds, who convened together to make the world a better place.
This beautiful, historic estate features a main house with 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, guest house with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, and an olympic size swimming pool. Both homes have been fully remodeled with a modern decor design.

I absolutely wish we could offer an early check-in! However, this is a large property that takes between 6-10 hours to prepare for the next guest after someone checks out. It usually is not ready until right at 5 PM. We will always let you know if it does happen to be ready any earlier. Summary: We loved this property! It was charming and clean. It had the perfect amount of space for the 10 of us, and it was conveniently located not too far outside of Nashville. The kitchen was well stocked and all of the extra small perks were much appreciated. It really had everything we needed!

Summary: This historic house was a great place for our family of 12 to be together. The large pool was a great addition to the stay. The house was very clean and equipped to feed a large crowd. We were even able to watch the fireworks from the back yard. I would recommend this home to friends.

Summary: We were a group of 10 co-workers having a summer retreat. It was nice to be able to get work done at the huge nice table and then take a break in the pool and hot tub. We had 6 people in the hot tub so it lost a lot of water but the owners came out and got it going again. They were very friendly!!

Summary: My family and I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful historic estate! The property is very well kept, including the large swimming pool. It felt very clean and was the perfect size for my family's vacation (12 adults and 2 children under 3). The linens and appliances are all high quality which was a very nice extra.
