Strickeen House is a superb luxury property which occupies the most private and idyllic position in Killarney. Set in a unique location commanding panoramic views of the picturesque Gap of Dunloe and extending to 350 sq. m. / 3,767 sq. ft. the property is situated on 0.9 ha (2.5 acres) of private, mature grounds. The house is finished to an exceptionally high standard, with crystal chandeliers, porcelain tiles and Canadian walnut flooring throughout.
Despite the exclusive privacy of the site and location, this property is only a ten minute drive to Killarney town and is within 200 yards walk of the world famous Kate Kearney's Cottage bar and restaurant as well as being within easy reach of The Cofee Pot (also 200 yards away) and Heather Restaurants (500 yards) as well as the newly refurbished 5 star Dunloe Hotel (1 mile down the road). The charming village of Beaufort, with a shop, bars and restaraunts which is located just off the main Ring of Kerry route with easy access to the Iveragh, Dingle & Beara Peninsulas is 2 miles away.
The surrounding area is a natural playground and Kerry is world renowned for its outdoor pursuits with a range of activities available for all ages. Killarney National Park is an extension of Strickeen House’s rear garden, offering mountain walks meandering through lakes, woodland and scenery that has no equal worldwide. There are 4 bikes and a small collection of walking gear (jackets, hats, gloves, boots, backpack etc) in the garage to help you get out and enjoy the wonderful fresh Kerry air.
There are ample salmon and trout fishing opportunities in the many surrounding lakes and rivers (3 good rods, tackle, waders etc in the garage) and for golfers (2 sets of clubs in garage) there is the world famous Killarney Golf and fishing club (7 miles away) host of the Irish open on numerous occasions and Beaufort (3 miles) clubs close by and Ballybunion, Tralee and Dooks Golf Courses, three of the best Courses in Ireland are also easily reached by car. For the water enthusiasts the coast is 20 miles away offering Atlantic beach walks, surfing and swimming as well as sailing and boating activities.
The bright and spacious accommodation is laid out over two floors with the stunning views from many of the reception rooms and bedrooms. On entering at ground level is the entrance hall with three reception rooms off, including a drawing room, dining room and sitting room. The country style kitchen with ample cabinets (full of everything you might need) and center island is further enhanced with the bay window dining area. There is a guest bedroom with shower en suite on the ground floor. Upstairs the master bedroom with en suite and ante chamber which serves as an additional bedroom with bespoke bunk beds as well as expansive balcony, a guest bedroom with en suite shower and a fifth bedroom which makes use of the adjacent family bathroom. A very special glass conservatory off the landing completes the interior accommodation, here many hours could be enjoyed watching the ever changing scenery and always present wildlife within the famous Gap of Dunloe and indeed within the grounds of Strickeen House iteslf where a herd of deer usually visit to graze several times a day.

Summary: this place is amazing. Beautiful, spacious and enough room for the 11 of us. It has everything you will need.The host made us feel at home with a beautiful welcome basket. If we ever come back to Ireland, we will definitely be booking this place.

Summary: The Strickeen house is situated in a gorgeous area of Ireland and is even better than the pictures and description. There is plenty of room to spread out and relax. And the grounds are beautiful and well kept. We were enchanted by visits from red deer and Sika deer every day! Rose, our hostess, was wonderful and helpful, before, during and after our stay. When we arrived (after a long, cross Atlantic flight), we were met at the property to show us around, explain the workings of the house and answer any questions we had about the area. The home was well stocked with all necessities and Rose had gifted us will a huge basket of goodies for our stay as well as a refrigerator with other essentials to make our first days in the house comfortable and worry free. If you are thinking about a stay in the Killarney area, do yourself a favor and stay at the Strickeen House! You will be delighted!

Summary: We travel a lot and this is one of the best locations we've stayed in. We love national parks and although technically Gap of Dunloe is not in Killarney, it's as beautiful as any other park we've been to. And the house was perfect! It's the most comfortable place we've ever stayed in after hiking and touring all day. We had 3 families come together here from the states, ages 12-90. Everyone had a comfy bed and bathroom. (We kept running of hot water but it could have been all the people showering and doing laundry. It didn't bother us too much.) The views from the house are incredible! Kitchen was pretty well stocked although bring in your own spices and seasonings if you cook. The welcome grocery basket was very generous. Our host, Rose, was very responsive and helped with so much, even fielding phone calls from Aer Lingus for my lost luggage. Amazingly my luggage was delivered to the house from Dublin, even though I was worried about the remote location. We also enjoyed breakfast and dinner from Coffee Pot and Kate Kearney's Cottage. Another bonus to have these places a 3-minute walk away when you don't want to cook. The best part was having the jaunty horse/carriage tours pick us up right from the house and arrange a day trip through the gap and then the boat ride through Killarney National Park. I highly recommend doing this! Incredible scenery and it's fun for all ages. Not having to drive on Ring of Kerry and avoiding most of the crowds this way is an incredible bonus. We are grateful to have found this place and highly recommend it for families and friends traveling together.

Summary: The pictures do not do it justice. The home was immaculate, spacious and beautiful. You walk down the driveway and you are at the bottom of the Gap. I could not have been better! We will be back
