This urban oasis is over a century old and was originally owned by a renowned photographer and student of Ansel Adams. This suite was previously used as his dark room where he developed a lot of his famous work!
The private guest-suite features two bedrooms, two bathrooms (one shower, one bath), an open plan living and dining space with a sleek custom kitchen. Set on a corner lot, this remodelled Victorian is a chic and quiet retreat ideal for couples, families, business travellers or people looking to work remotely.
One bedroom overlooks the garden and offers spectacular views of the San Francisco skyline. It's hard to beat sitting in bed by a large bay window and looking out beyond the wisteria and roses to the city lights. Bedroom two has a French window that opens onto the deck with access to the garden as well.
Brand new deck (accessible, both from the second bedroom and living room) leads to a charming little English garden flush with roses and hummingbirds. Find your way to the middle of the garden and perch yourself on the bench under the Wisteria for a quite read or some peaceful yoga under the blooms. Engulfed by the smell and sight of roses and the lights of downtown San Francisco as your backdrop, enjoy a starry night under the Wisteria with a hot mug of cocoa or a nice glass of Californian wine (Psst, if you’re nice, the host might indulge you with a glass of complimentary local wine).

Summary: We had a wonderful stay and will return as our family friends live just blocks away. The apartment is thoughtfully outfitted with everything you might need. Very responsive and helpful host. The location was beautiful. The apartment is located on a steep hill, which was fine for us, but might be a challenge for anyone not able-bodied.

Summary: The home was clean, cozy and a wonderful stay for the night. The garden in the back was absolutely stunning. So many varieties of flowers - just fell in love with this secret garden in the city. Although there was no TV we brought games and enjoyed playing them while listening to music - no biggie for us. The kitchen was nicely stocked but lacked some basic items like olive oil but we just walked to the market. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. We would visit and stay again at this location.

Summary: Stayed here twice. It was downstairs which guess I didn’t notice in the description. It was fine but I was in a boot after foot surgery. The entrance was a challenge because of that and. the street is steep but I had help. So if you have mobility issues, this may not be the place for you. Other than that, it accommodates two couples beautifully. Wish the back yard had a place to sit as there is a nice view of the city. No TV if that’s a game changer for you. The host was absolutely wonderful and easy to contact.
