Villa Givera nestles in a peaceful hillside setting just 5 km far from the town of Rethymnon and 3 km far from the closest sandy beach. This lovely property enjoys full privacy and magnificent views to the clear blue sky, the Cretan countryside with the olive groves and the inviting sea.
The villa boasts a spacious, well appointed interior (130 sq.m.) with wooden ceiling and stone tile details, and can comfortably accommodate up to 6 persons in its 3 airy and sunny bedrooms. The big spaces, the classy decor, the large terrace with its lovely sunsets, the stunning swimming pool as well as the beautiful gardens and the BBQ facilities will give your vacation a special touch of comfort and wellness.
Outdoor
The villa features a 1000 sqm outdoor space with a large tile paved veranda and an even larger pool deck with a private, eco friendly swimming pool (9m long & 1.40m deep). The spectacular views and the breathtaking sunsets will enchant you each day and evening, assuring you a memorable stay. The family size wooden table of the veranda invites you to enjoy your Cretan meals, while the lounge furniture is ideal for a night drink by the pool. At the stone-built BBQ facilities with the extra sink and fridge you can experience homemade al fresco lunches. Additionally, there is a lot of space covered with grass, ornamental trees, rose bushes, geraniums and aromatic plants, whilst the stone paved path leading to the entrance of the villa is the perfect place to safely park your car.
Indoor
The villa is a one-storey building with a stylishly furnished open-plan living room and a large fully equipped kitchen with a dining table for 4. The spacious sitting area features one triple and one double sofa, an armchair, a dining table for 6, a fireplace, and two double windows opening onto the veranda and the swimming pool. A long corridor connects the living room with the bedrooms and bathrooms. The villa disposes of three bedrooms (1 double and 2 twins) with great views to the garden and pool, and two bathrooms: one with bathtub and another with shower cabin. The house is equipped with a/c in all bedrooms and living room, washing machine, dishwasher, free satellite WiFi, flat screen TV, DVD player, hairdryer, safe box, iron/iron board, first aid kit and all necessary items and appliances for a comfortable stay.

Summary: Everything about this place was wonderful. The pictures don’t do justice to how beautiful and meticulously well-maintained this place is. They clearly care about keeping it great shape, and it shows! Marina was very helpful with suggestions and advice. She welcomed us when we arrived and had brought us a basket of fresh fruit, which was very kind. This place is a five minute drive up a somewhat winding road, but it is an easy drive, even at night, so we did not find that troublesome. The location has excellent privacy and gorgeous sunset views to be enjoyed from the patio or the pool. I genuinely don’t have a single complaint. It was a wonderful vacation home and great central location for exploring the island on day trips. Thanks Marina and family for letting us stay there!

Summary: Overall a very beautiful and charming House, with all what you need as a family who prefer privacy and a quiet place. The pictures shows exactly what you get. The play area for The kids was really Nice, but unfortunately we could not use it, because The sand was literally filled with cat excrement.

Summary: There are many positive things to say about the villa, but what we most liked was: the architecture of the building. All the rooms face the same view. There are no stairs, there is only one step from the verandas to the large pool of which the water level is equal with the terrace, no edges around the pool and there is a shower. The garden has beautiful plants, trees and flowers. The house feels like a real home, not a holiday home, because of the chosen furniture, decorations and plants. All the windows have build-in insect screens and schutters. We absolutely loved the bed linen, luxurious and soft. The owner is very kind and was understandable as we couldn’t come in 2020. The villa has had many improvements through the years and is very well maintained and we hope to come back again. We have stayed in several other villas but this one is our favorite.

Summary: We stayed at Villa Givera in August of 2021, and it was our favorite stay throughout our 14 days in Greece. We loved, loved, LOVED the house itself. Our teenager had his own room and our 5-year-old was excited by the kid toys that the host had left for her. Having your own private pool with a view of the ocean was amazing! We made a point of watching the sunset from the pool every day we were there. Definitely use the outdoor kitchen as well. One of the best dinners of the entire trip was when we picked up souvlaki, lamb burgers, and halloumi cheese from a nearby supermarket to grill and had a family night in cooking, drinking wine, and watching the sunset. The location is wonderful. You can be in old town Rethymno in less than 10 minutes, our favorite restaurant was Taverna Zisis--only six minutes away--because it has a playground for kids to play while you take your time with dinner. Also nearby-- hiking in Myloi Gorge in ten minutes or on a beach in 15. The bigger beaches of Triopetra and Damnoni are a bit further, but manageable -- about 45 minutes away on the other side of the island. We would absolutely stay there again!

Summary: Cannot speak too highly about this villa. It had everything we needed. Plenty of space, fantastic inside and out. Pool great size and as for the views and sunsets- wow! Yes it is a little out of the way but worth it.

Summary: Villa Givera is really a gem and even nicer than you would expect from the ad in the internet. Marina the landlady is very nice and gave us a friendly welcome with a local snack exactly at the time arranged by SMS/phone. She showed us around and even offered to arrange for food delivery to the house by local caterers (gyros etc.) . The villa is ideally located at the Eastern outskirts of Rethymno and easily accessible as the highway interchange is only about 10 min away. There are no neighbors besides the two holiday houses uphill which are, however, not within earshot. There is not much traffic on the adjacent road either. The house is lovingly furnished and decorated. The garden is well manicured and the pool is splendid. The house, garden and pool were taken care of by a cleaning lady and a caretaker who provided their unobtrusive services three times during our two weeks‘ stay. So, we were relieved from the otherwise onerous housekeeping duties and could just relax. We (two adults and two girls of 10 yrs) enjoyed our stay very much and spent an aggregate 7 days in the villa without leaving the place since it provides everything you need for a holiday. The beautiful beaches on the south coast and even more beautiful Lake Kournas are just a 40 minutes‘ drive away. Downtown Rethymno can be reached in 15 min. We are looking forward to our next time at Villa Givera and can recommend this place for every party of up to six people.

Summary: We are a family of four and always prefer a nice villa/house over a hotel and therefore have become „veterans“ in renting vacation houses over the years. This was certainly one of the best properties we have ever rented. Everything was as advertised or even better. The kitchen has everything you need. The interior of the house is very tasteful and impeccable. The outdoor space is five star plus (pool, porch, barbecue area, sunbeds, view, ....). It is about 10 min. into town (one of the nicest on Crete). And last but not least Marina is a great host. Not at all intrusive but 100% responsive. Thanks for letting us have your villa for two weeks !
