Positive: The location was brilliant for visiting nearby attractions and close to the town centre (10 minute walk). The cottage was a good size and facilities were OK. It was good that we could book a few short days rather than a week.

Negative: For us the beds were way too soft and uncomfortable. We also felt we needed an extra seat in the living area. The kitchen needed a couple of additional utensils (spatula and serving spoon). A tap in the bathroom sink was loose and the seal round the bath needs to be updated. The nearby road was busy and noisy but ultimately didn't affect us too badly.

Summary: The cottage is in a brilliant location for visiting nearby attractions (Durham and Beamish)

Positive: Good location - easy to find and park. Larger than expected.

Negative: Downstairs bathroom at the back of the house at the opposite side to the stairs to the bedrooms. Not good during the night! Nowhere to hang clothes or dry towels in the rather small bathroom. Hooks on the door would be an easy solution. Not much in the way of utensils for cooking -no fish slice, slotted spoons etc. No casserole dishes.. No dishwasher, just a washing machine. Bathroom had some mould around the bath and needed bleaching. Could do with a lick of paint here and there.

Summary: Generally good. Enjoyed our stay.

Positive: The cottage was close to town which made shopping & eating out easy if required. Nice open planned living area and decoration was pleasing. Great location for visiting many attractions

Negative: Pillows flat and uncomfortable. Barely any hangers in the wardrobes. No over door hooks for coats etc. No towel airer in the bathroom or hooks. Only 1 tea towel and hand towel which wasn't enough. The garden was scruffy but could have been lovely with a bit of attention. Could do with an arm chair in the lounge as sofa was a little small for 4 and a sidelamp to feel cosy

Negative: Not enough seating if there had been 4 people only 1 sofa. Not suitable for anyone with limited mobility as toilet downstairs.
