Positive: -Quieter than Dal Lake, offering peaceful, crowd-free sunsets -Strong and reliable WiFi, suitable for video calls and remote work -Lovely mornings with their homemade kahwa -Highly recommended to have lunch or dinner on the boat—especially the Kashmiri delicacies -Remember it’s a houseboat, so temper your expectations accordingly Thank you, Yusuf ji and Junaid!

Positive: The sunset view from the boat is lovely! We had the boat to ourselves. Jimmy picked us up from the airport and Yousuf was onsite to help with any questions and with our meals. My husband was sick and we needed to go to the hospital; Jimmy came right away and helped us at the hospital, too. Wow! It was a quiet and relaxing place to rest and recover. There are many restaurants on the road you can walk to, or easily get an auto to town. Not too many shikara sellers came by, which was good. Wifi also worked very well!

Negative: It was cold weather when we stayed, and we would have like hotter water. But warm water was available.

Positive: Beautiful boat with lovely peaceful atmosphere, host Yousef was very nice and gave lots of local advice and tips. The breakfast was great and the hosts clearly know what works well and doesn’t - recommend this houseboat over the Dal Lake boats as much quieter and the hosts are so sincere and aren’t overwhelming

Positive: We loved this houseboat. First of all, there were only two rooms on the boat, and for most of our stay we were the only people there. The room was spacious, cozy and the bed was comfortable. The main sitting area was also very nice. The wifi was pretty good, a little bit glitchy on video calls, but for the most part pretty reliable. Our host was extremely helpful, and the view from the porch was great, too. Unlike Dal Lake, which is super crowded, busy and chaotic, Nigeen Lake was serene and not too many vendors came to bother us.

Negative: One thing that was a little frustrating was that there wasn't a kettle on the boat. We had to rely on our host to bring us hot water.

Positive: This houseboat is located on the smaller and quieter Nigeen Lake. There are 2 bedrooms and we were lucky that we had the whole boat to ourselves for 5 days. We ate most of our meals on the boat and they were really tasty. Yusuf is a wonderful host and he was always ready to help or answer questions about the area. He makes the best Kahwa in Kashmir!

Negative: There was a continuous problem with electricity during the day. Initially, the wifi was not connected to the inverter, which meant that I had to go sit in a restaurant across the street to work online. Yusuf really tried to fix this problem but was not able to. If you do not need wifi, this is a wonderful, private, quiet and simple boat to stay on in Srinigar.
