1 Bedroom Apartment in Bovara, Umbria

The beauty, ancient spirit, and calm of Le Logge provides you a special self-catering property of only several carefully curated, carefully restored and fully independent apartment-homes now protected by the Italian Ministry of Heritage and Culture. It’s strategic location gives you an excellent base to experience the many great wonders that Umbria offers and convenient access to Rome (90 minutes by car, less by train) or Tuscany (“Under the Tuscan Sun” Cortona 45 minutes by car and Florence 2 hours).
The history of your apartment-home reaches back almost 700 years when Le Logge was a roman military fortress protecting the papal sanctioned city of Spoleto. Meticulously restored stone-by-stone, you may stay in former watchtowers, a horse stable for the garrison captain, cobbler’s shop and spaces with many other rich histories.
The commanders of the garrison entered from the ancient tunnel that still now opens into the covered Logge. The stones in the tunnel tell the story of the "breaks" that would keep the horse drawn carriage from sliding backwards and out.
The carefully restored apartment features one full bedroom with a large matrimonal bed. The new sofa also provides a large and comfortable sleeping bed for two adults. The fully independent apartment includes a sun-filled kitchen and modern bathroom. The internal doors are of the original period, as are other ancient features. A short walk out of your door will bring you into the covered Logge, only accessible by one other apartment on the property, for outdoor dining and unforgettable sunsets.
The 5000 sqm garden is divided in two parts. The one in front of the Logge was once the old “hortus”, now with two centuries-old fig trees, in the shade of which you can sit and read in summertime. The main part of the garden is surrounded by big oak, elms and olive trees, the swimming pool in the centre, and over 200 plants among lavender, rosemary, thyme, myrtle, abelia, cartegus, broom and pomegranate, and more than 50 different kinds of rose.
The Pool is located in the most panoramic but reserved part of the garden, sunny from sunrise to sunset, equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, and areas in the shade. The access to the Pool is only for registered Guests. Full servicing is provided. Jacuzzi spa is available with a complimentary use provided and additional time by reservation and arrangements.
A welcome basket is provided at check-in and assistance can be requested for help in arranging other experiences including a cooking lesson, transportation to the beach, Rome and other adventures which you would pay for separately as interested.
Welcome to Le Logge and tranquility.

Summary: Just an easy 40 min drive from Perugia Airport, LeLogge is ideally situated to explore this beautiful region. When you turn of the main road you are about 10 mins from the delightful hillside location: the property is as described and photographed, a very well presented historic property in lovely grounds, a very nice swimming pool with a breathtaking view we found hard to leave, indeed some days we just swam, read, relaxed, had a break for lunch on the terrace and did the same in the afternoon. So a great place to recharge the batteries, but much to see. Spoleto a charming city is just waiting to be explored and just 20 mins away, the Basilica in Assisi just devine, wonderful food, great wine, Umbria has so much to offer and I can’t imagine a better place to base yourself. The owners Diana and Alberto have worked hard to create something really special here and it shows, the furnishing, decor and overall presentation of the accommodation is of a very high standard. They are both charming and genial hosts who were helpful and attentive whilst giving us the time and space to enjoy Le Logge as home. A thoroughly enjoyable 11 day holiday, we will return. Highly recommended.

Summary: LE LOGGE DI SILVIGNANO We had a very great welcome in Silvignano, a little corner of heaven in the middle of Umbria. Alberto and Diana received us in their wonderful property, “Le Logge di Silvignano”, and we didn’t feel like customers in an impersonal structure but and above all we were treated as dear and appreciated guests. Our apartment was very comfortable, clean and every detail was well cared. Furniture have been chosen with accuracy and a delicious touch of refinement which gives you the impression of still living in Umbria’s Mediaeval past. How could we forget our beautiful Renaissance open gallery and all the romantic and peaceful sunsets we saw from it? Silvignano: a place full of history but also a place of peace and rest. In fact the garden gives you the opportunity of relaxing yourself while reading a book between plants and flowers, taking a stroll or a dip into the swimming pool or simply having a sun bath. Diana and Alberto’s property is situated in a strategical spot in the heart of Umbria from where you’ll easily move and discover many nice cities of art, archaeological sites, historical and natural places you won’t forget for sure. Diana and Alberto are always available to you in order of showing and giving a straight for the most interesting places to visit. The ones who appreciate good food and wine won’t be disappointed: these kind owners will suggest you a lot of restaurants, taverns and wineries thereabouts where you’ll eat and taste Umbrian culinary specialties and wines. We are so excited about this lovely place that we hope we’ll come back soon and we’ll recommend it to our friends and relatives without a doubt. Pietro, Bruna and Erica Mussi

Summary: We had a fantastic family holiday in the apartment at Logge di Silvignano in Aug 2011. Alberto & Diana made us feel at home the moment we arrived & their friendship & hospitality made a huge difference to our whole experience in Umbria. The Logge has a real presence & you feel that you are sharing a little bit of history that has been beautifully restored with real care. The property is located in a small village on a hillside, overlooking the Umbrian valley. The views & sunset were lovely but more than anything there was space to relax & forget about everything. The apartment was very spacious & well equipped & gave us complete privacy. The pool is shared but there is plenty of room & we enjoyed the company & stories of the other guests. There are plenty of restaurants & nearby & Spoleto, Assissi, Montefalco are all within easy driving distance. A trip into the mountains is a must - amazing scenery & great food! Our two young children were in their element - great pool, large grounds, shaded area to play games. Diana & Alberto were brilliant with them. We would recommend Le Logge to anyone who wants to stay in real Italy.

Summary: Le Logge was recommended to us by a friend, and we couldn't have found a more perfect place. Diana and Alberto were the most gracious and helpful hosts, making reservations and recommendations for side trips, rental cars, and train schedules. They have lovingly and beautifully restored the 11th century structures and grounds over several years, and every aspect of the property has been given their full attention. Fig, olive and rose bushes surrounded the pool and the sunset became the event of the evening. The town of Silvignano was small, but had most amenities, fresh food, pasta, bread and wine. Having a car is a must to get around, but easily arranged in Spello.

Summary: I think that our week at Logge di Silvignano was the highlight of our 3 week trip through Umbria. Our hosts, Diana and Alberto, immediately became friends whom I would love to have at my home. Their property is a treasure gem amidst olive groves and below a very small village, with plenty of room to walk the rose gardens, rest by the pool, or gaze out over the Umbrian valley watching the sunset. Our apartment had its own patio, well equipped kitchen, and enough of a "welcome feast" in our refrigerator to furnish our breakfasts for the entire week. Our bedroom was elegantly furnished, soft linens and comfortable bed. Several restaurants are within 5 minutes away, and walking the hills and forests around Silvignano made us feel we were in old Italy. Our hosts spoke perfect English and suggested great day trips for us, which we would not have found otherwise. I really want to return, and don't think we could ever tire of this wonderful part of the world.

Summary: We had the luck to be able to stay one week in June in the apartment with the private loggia. The property is very clean and well maintained and situated at a marvelous location above the valley. The apartment is furnished with great taste and is very spacious. It was immaculately clean upon our arrival. In addition the kitchen was stocked with everything needed for a breakfast next morning and even a marvelous cake was waiting for us. Speaking of the kitchen, I love cooking and the kitchen equipment would be the only aspect of potential improvement, But Diana helped out, wherever it was possible. But eating out at the loggia makes easily up for this. Enjoy your dinner at sunset with Pasta and truffles and a good Umbrian wine and you will be as close to heaven as you are able to come on earth. All in all, if you need a break, this part of Umbria is definitely worth a trip and Le Logge de Silvignano is where you can enjoy it most.

Summary: I had the privilege of staying in one of the rooms shown above, in October 2010. I'm certain there are no words to describe the magnificence of the logge and its owners, Diana and Alberto Araimo. But I will try. The rooms were charming, elegant, yet comfortable, warm and inviting - from the exquisite linen sheets in the bedroom to the fluffy yellow bathroom towels and delicious smelling toiletries that would certainly rival any spa. The bed was outstanding – the mattress just firm enough with the right pillows. The sitting room is exactly where you want to sit and relax. And, each view from the various windows was like something out of a magazine, or a dream; simply surreal in the best sense of the word. Nothing could beat the cleanliness – you could eat off the floor. Not only that, the magically equipped kitchen had everything you could need or want for breakfast or afternoon tea; including a divine, fresh, homemade cake, made by one of the owners – though I still don’t know which Araimo deserves that prize! As for the owners and their hospitality, they must have written the book by which anyone, anywhere in the hotel business should subscribe. I was traveling on my own, but felt as though I had come to see my family after an extended absence. Diana and Alberto treated me as if their only desire was to make my stay as wonderful as possible. They helped me to get a rental car, and provided detailed maps, directions, and guide books – in English – for visiting a variety of nearby places. When I got myself lost after dark – through NO fault of the excellent maps, Alberto was there in flash to lead me back home. I have never before experienced anything as comforting as being cared for by these folks. And, in my all of travels, I have never enjoyed such graciousness. People like this are a rarity for sure in today’s world. The surroundings are spectacular with wonderful walking paths everywhere, and each sunset from the balcony is more beautiful than the last. The silence is truly golden – the only sounds are those of the songbirds in the back gardens and surrounding woods. My only regret is that I did not book a longer stay. My only fear is that the rest of the world will discover this oasis and there will be no more room for me! I will always treasure my stay at the lodge, and the new friends – I’ll keep forever. My idea of heaven would be to simply live there. ellen sappington

Summary: My daughter and I stayed with Diana and Alberto this past September. We stayed in the suite that opened onto the private loggia in the photo. The suite was immaculate and luxurious. Unlike a lot of places, this one was even better than the photos! There was a bedroom and a loft with another bed above the living room. The bathroom and kitchen were spacious. Diana and Alberto were incredibly gracious, recommending daily outings and restaurants. We must admit we hurried back to the apartment each evening as the sunsets were beyond belief ( so we never made it to the recommended restaurants...). Diana referred us to a wonderful horseback riding facility (La Somma) where we had a full day trekking which was the highlight of our whole trip! I must also mention the ancient fig trees which were laden with ripe figs of which we were told to help ourselves. Diana and Alberto even did our laundry for us and DIana left us a lemon cake she baked herself! Umbria is beautiful and we very much hope to return next year (accompanied by my husband) and take DIana up on her offer to move me forward with my Italian studies! Carol and Kate Rembor
