Positive: The gardens were lovely and the staff very responsive (by message and in person ), kind, helpful and friendly. They arranged our trip to and from the homestay and it was very smooth.

Negative: Breakfast was quite basic and dinner was rather poor. Tasteless. Maybe they think this is what tourists want? We had better food in the village for cheaper. Mattress was hard and bathroom could have been cleaner (mirrors and surfaces grimy)

Positive: The homestay had a peaceful, forest getaway vibe—perfect for a remote escape. Breakfast was included, and lunch and dinner (for an additional cost) were delicious, especially with the thoughtful vegan catering for our family. Meals were served family-style with a generous variety of dishes. The hosts, Chilly and Hai, were warm, accommodating, and happy to help organise anything we needed. The 3-hour return hike (though I didn’t do it) was highly praised by other guests who came back with stunning photos. The bioluminescence tour was magical, even though it wasn’t peak season. Bike rentals were available for exploring the island. A fan in the room helped with comfort during the night.

Negative: Mosquitoes were plentiful—mosquito repellent is a must. I had to aim the fan directly at myself all night to keep the mosquitoes away. Bathroom smelt like strong sewerage

Positive: The place was lovely, a beautiful garden in the middle of nowhere. I preferred this to Cat Ba city, since there are big works happening there. It’s not super easy to reach, and apparently the Homestay suggested against the public boat that passes twice a day (I didn’t really saw it actually). However, even if more costly, the speed boat was nice. I told Chilly my plan was to take the public boat to have a longer trip across the islands and he extended the speedboat trip to give me the same experience, which was really nice! The food was very good and I took the day long trip in the boat. The guide was amazing and the cocktails too. I also went for a night trip with the kayak to see the bioluminescence, and it was far more beautiful than I expected. Even if I was on a budget, I’m happy I spent some more money for that, these are great memories.
