Spectacularly rebuilt in 2023, this waterfront home brings the chic style of a modern farmhouse to the most classic of Maine settings. Here on the shores of Phillips Lake, you'll spend memorable days playing with your kids on the private beach, dropping fishing lines from the dock, and taking dips in the lake's cool waters in the pebble-bottom swim area.
This two-story, lakefront home is a true Maine lake house - a storied family retreat that was rebuilt and named in honor of the family patriarch. So much is close by, from the stunning landscapes of Acadia National Park (29 miles) and Bar Harbor (34 miles) to the slopes of Hermon Mountain Ski Area (24 miles). Tee off at the Lucerne Golf Course (two miles), explore the Great Pond Mountain Wildlands (23 miles), or time your visit for the wonderful Blue Hill Fair (26 miles).
This is a place for sparkling days spent outdoors - bringing the beach chairs down to the lakeshore, barbecuing on the spacious deck, and enjoying the shade of the forest canopy. After a day of swimming or kayaking, gather around the firepit for s'mores and stories of the afternoon's adventures.
The house has a beautiful openness to it, from the lofty ceilings and exposed crossbeams to the windows framing the trees and lake at every turn. Everything was designed for special family gatherings - a great room with a smart TV, a sunroom that's perfect for board games, and a polished eat-in kitchen with stainless steel appliances (including double ovens, an in-island gas range, and a French-door fridge). At night, you'll find one bedroom with direct access to the deck on the main floor and four more rooms upstairs - one of which is a bunk room that's ideal for kids.

Summary: Perfect home for grandparents, parents, and 4 preteen/teen cousins to gather for a trip to Maine. Very clean, nice layout of rooms, and lovely property. The private dock is such a treat--kids loved to fish and swim. Need to bring your own watercraft. We were a little worried about 2 bathrooms with the size of our group, but it was totally fine. Kitchen very well appointment for cooking at home, and BBQ and firepit on back deck were fun too. Highly recommend as home base for exploring this area!

Summary: I was looking for a place large enough for my family to attend my daughter's college graduation. This house was perfect! We comfortably fit 7 adults. Our only minor complaint is that Maine in May can be cold and with only one heat pump running the main house, we all needed blankets and sweatshirts. However overall I highly recommend this rental and would absolutely book again.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed a short, but wonderful stay at Chuck's place! Easily accommodated our group of 6 adults and 2 children and all of the details from games to beach towels were available for our use. The homeowners even made a night visit to change out a propane tank so we could enjoy the gas firepit. They are a wonderful couple and we appreciated their efforts to ensure we enjoyed our stay. :) The lake location is fabulous and any of the limited downtime was spent on the dock or swimming. Would definitely return for a longer stay.

Summary: My family was blown away by this place. We came to hike in Acadia National Park, but ended up spending just as much time swimming and kayaking in the lake by their house. Stunning scenery, comfy beds and a well-equipped kitchen. We’ll be back for sure!

Summary: So much to love about this place! Lake views/sunsets. Clean, well appointed. Really good mattresses. Excellent communication with owner when we had a small dishwasher issue. Rented a pontoon boat, and the dock is well built and maintained for this. Neighbors all around are friendly. Nice big kitchen for the 7 of us. Cozy couches. Would highly recommend.

Summary: Gorgeous spot, beautiful home. We hosted 10 family members from out of state and it was a wonderful gathering spot. Love that it’s dog friendly - the properly is ideal for dogs and people. Dock and beach area are picturesque and unique for a Maine lakefront camp with a beach. Easy in and out for kayaking and swimming. We had an absolutely wonderful time.
