Positive: The owners refurbished the old Saw Mill to such a high standard, you can not fail to be impressed with the quality of everything.

Negative: There was nothing to dislike, we arrived on a bright sunny day and the surroundings were beautiful. We left with everywhere covered under a blanket of snow, and it was magical.

Positive: Cannot believe how lucky we got with this place! The review is long because it deserves it. The sawmill is unrivalled, grand designs have nothing on this place. The history and development of the place is an adventure story in itself. The owners Shirley and Phillip have put so much love and care into renovating the mill. It’s their dream home, not a business, and it shows. A perfect balance of modern living and historic architecture. The wood detailing inside and outside is stunning, all made by the master artist himself, Phillip. Shirley also tiled the roof herself! The apartment we stayed in was not only stunning, but immaculately clean with all modern amenities. The bedroom was so comfortable, the kitchen and living area is a great space to relax and the bathroom is also perfect. Loved a hot shower and a soak in the bath after a long hike. It was also lovely to just sit in the garden with the views and the quiet and the privacy. The location is probably the best spot in the peak district, quick and easy to drive anywhere and fit some fun local evening walks in too (five mins easy walk into the small town). Phillip and Shirley were so kind, and so easy to talk to. And their son Justin too. Great for everyone, but if you are a female/solo traveller especially, this is an incredible and safe base for you. The guest book had hundreds of incredible hand written thanks too. A true hidden gem for so many reasons. Thanks to you all, we will be back!!!
