Positive: Beautiful building and grounds. Everywhere you look there is lovely furniture and interesting art work. Dog friendly. Our room was spacious, comfy and quiet. Excellent food and drinks. Even had a guitarist in the evening singing and telling stories.

Positive: The hotel is beautiful and thoughtfully restored. The gardens are gorgeous. The Turquoise room had food that equaled any upscale restaurant I’ve eaten in. Staff was friendly, helpful… everything was top shelf! The rooms were comfy and well appointed, Los Poblanos (my fav) lotions and shampoos. Very reasonably priced too! We will return soon!

Negative: One pretty big disappointment… they do not offer ANY kind of late check out. I asked and was told maybe we could check 30 minutes late. that’s ‘off’…. We arrived on Amtrak, we left on Amtrak, at 7pm. We were forced to be out of our room by 11am. 8 hours before we departed. They are a historic railroad hotel. If it weren’t for the railroad, they wouldn’t even be in existence! (In fact, we split our return trip to LA up, and stayed overnight in Winslow specifically to stay at La Posada) I would have paid a reasonable sum for late checkout…. Being refused any help felt very unaccommodating and short sided.

Summary: LWe will probably be back because I loved the hotel. However, the late checkout thing put us both off - we won’t bother

Negative: The exterior doors and some of the other areas needed maintenance. It is a very nice restoration of a historical property, but it needs more upkeep.

Positive: We had two meals during our stay and both were very good. Terrific waitresses.

Negative: Bartender needs a little "seasoning".
