Positive: I had a brilliant four day stay at La Ghita. Hjalmar was an exceptional host and a really nice guy. It was a real pleasure to chat and enjoy some good games of darts in the garden! It’s a charming property and everything is impeccably clean. The room was great, the shower excellent and the bed very comfy. The balcony was also a lovely place to relax and enjoy the birdsong (especially the dawn chorus if you’re up early!) La Ghita makes a good location to explore both Ceresole Reale and the Coll del Nivolet, plus Valle Soana - I hiked around both areas. It’s a stunningly beautiful part of Gran Paradiso & I had some amazing encounters with Ibex, plus saw a myriad of Chamois and Marmots. You’ll also have a strong likelihood of seeing Golden Eagle - I even spotted a juvenile Lammergeier at 2600m in Valle Soana! Hjalmar also makes a delicious cake!

Positive: Excellent location, very friendly hosts and clean rooms - what more can we ask for! Big bathroom which was clean. Room was quite warm (sometimes too dry).

Negative: The breakfast needs a lot more work - extremely sweet breakfast and we had the same cake for two consecutive days and very minimum choice - quite easily improved by including some oats/cereal, nuts - things that don't expire with plain yoghurt (without sugar). We were the only two guests staying so while understandable that food cannot be wasted, you could use a smaller tray to make a smaller cake and therefore have different options everyday. The cake itself was very good! Fruits - something more than just an apple. Finally for the dry room - a humidifier might be a good addition.

Positive: The host was super friendly, warm and welcoming and communication was easy, also for special requests like a late arrival. The place was spotlessly clean, home-made cake and a sandwich machine for breakfast. Fantastic place to start for (or rest from) a hike or mountain climb.

Positive: If you enjoy nature and hiking, then La Ghita is an excellent location to visit the Gran Paradiso National Park. Out of the many places we visited throughout Italy, this area is one of the most beautiful and enchanting, as the majestic Alps surround you. The father and son who hosted us were very kind and helpful, making us feel right at home. Should we ever return to this area, we will definitely stay at La Ghita.
