Positive: Great place in a welcoming community surrounded by magnificent rainforest and gigantic Amazon river. Plenty of unusual outdoor attractions to choose from for every day of the stay.

Positive: Everything was excellent. The staff was incredibly kind and responsive. They were very helpful in helping us organize our itinerary and make sure we were able to do everything we wanted. Tour guides we booked through the property were friendly and knowledgeable. The property and the community of Mocagua were amazing and very comfortable. We appreciated the experience of staying within a community so dedicated to sustainable tourism and conservation projects. The food was also excellent.

Negative: Everything was great.

Positive: Staff is very friendly and we enjoyed most of the activities experienced under the recommendations and guidance of Maria and Manuel, the owners, namely: fishing experience on the Amazonas river, dolphin sighting, crafting our basket and bracelets with an artisan of the village.

Negative: We would have rated 10 the stay, unfortunately on the way back the platform which would have allowed us to get on the "Amazon rapid boat" to Leticia the small boat arranged by La Ceiba had not been fueled. We discovered too late as remained still, with no fuel, stranded by the Amazon river current. We are a family with a 8yrs old boy. It was dangerous and we panicked. Somehow we managed (paid 20'000 pesos to a boat passing by) but when we sent a message to the La Ceiba owners to highlight the issue to make sure that it does not happen again we did not get any message back. Zero apologies. This was disappointing and left us with a bitter-sweet feeling since.

Summary: True Amazon experience but make sure that your boat has been fueled

Positive: Our second time here. We LOVE this beautiful place! Run by a lovely couple. Outstanding food! Excellent service. We love Doña Maria and Don Manuel. They go above and beyond. They set up a monkey tour and our boat transportation back to Leticia. Wonderful service.

Negative: We would love to have fans available for our next stay. It’s very hot in the Amazon.

Positive: If you want to have the real Amazonas experience, we highly recommend to go to La Ceiba!! In the communication prior to our arrival they booked our boat tickets and made our trip easy. You get a free breakfast with fresh fruits and juice and can book further meals, which are all freshly and lovely prepared and are more than enough. We appreciated the flexibility in booking various trips during our stay. Each activity was amazing and we learned a lot about the life, nature and the community in the Amazonas. Every staff member as well as every tour guide was always pleasant, lovely and answered all our questions. The room even had a balcony with a hammock to observe wildlife. It was absolutely tidy and got cleaned every day. So were the shared bathrooms.

Positive: We had a wonderful experience at La Ceiba, Amazonas! All of the tours were great. We especially loved the dolphin tour at sunset, the early morning birding tour, the tour of the community/the Ticuna museum, and just watching the birds from our balcony in the mornings and evenings. It was definitely worthwhile to pay extra for a guide to get from the airport to the correct boat. Monica was very helpful and even arranged for us to do a short tour in Leticia while waiting for the boat to Mocagua. Highly recommend this hospedaje, would stay here again.
