Positive: Elios and his family made every effort to ensure we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The hospitality was second to none, the food great, the bedrooms comfortable and both with fans and Macedonia itself an amazing community. We wholeheartedly recommend Hostal Eboneezer! Get there several times a day by express boat from Leticia or Puerto Narino

Positive: The people were very warm and caring! Helped us with everything we needed! The food was very good and the activities were amazing! We got to interact with the locals and learn parts of their tradition! Totally recommend!

Positive: The family that hosted us was incredibly sweet and nice. They walked us around gave us info, and cooked delicious handmade food for us. They went all the way to welcome us and to be sure we had a nice stay. The community is super interesting, if you speak Spanish you'll have the chance to have an idea of the place and talk to many people. The room was nice and spacious. The place is relaxing for chilling.
Negative: The tours were literally 3 times the prices of the other places so we couldn't afford them unfortunately. I think it would be better to adapt the prices to the average of the area. We had a couple of cockroaches in the room but being in nature it's ok. We were quite stuck there since we could do the tours and the village is close to nothing so you can't do things on your own, you always need to go to Puerto nariño paying for the ferry and sticking to the tight schedule of 3-4 boats per day.

Positive: Very comfortable room with great mosquitonet, nice zone to chill out in hammocks, and very friendly owners! And delicious food (breakfast as well as the lunch and the dinner)! 😋 we liked staying in Macedonia instead of Leticia because it is a community rather than a city, and more authentic experience.
Negative: The tours were very well organized. The young guide that welcomed us and took us around at puerto Nariño was sometimes difficult to understand and could be more enthusiastic. The boat driver and guide and host are amazing. As personal note, we would have preferred to either not be shown the ritual dance or observe it during an ongoing fest of the community.

Positive: From the moment we were greeted at the riverside by our host upon arrival, until the moment we left, we have been treated with kindness and warmth by our host, his family and the wider community. You see that the community is keen to have tourists stay in Macedonia such that they can then use the funds to progress their community projects. For this reason alone I’d recommend this as a base from which to explore the Amazon rather than staying in Leticia. Sure you could get on a group tour from Leticia which herds you quickly through the various communities on the river but you’d be missing out on so much and only a small portion of your funds would be directly helping this community. Lie back in a hammock, listen to the forest and escape the bustle of everyday life. Highly recommend the tours they run. No agencies are involved, our host just gets the locals with the relevant expertise to conduct the tour / activity. There were only ever the 2 of us on any given tour / activity and we did many of them including night walk, animal sanctuaries, fishing, visit to see the sloths, way of life experience etc so you really are getting the personal touch. Our host provided boots for the muddier walks, good binoculars when needed and flashlights. If you are here on a weekend make sure you are around one of the afternoons to watch the community football and volleyball - Great fun. The heat and mosquitos were no way near as bad as we were expecting but we did take the standard recommended precautions (hats, long sleeves, mosi repellant etc). The meals are expertly prepared and delicious. Recommend to bring good earplugs, roosters wake up early! Muchas Gracias!!!!

Positive: Staying at this hostal with a local family was an unforgettable experience! It offered an authentic glimpse into the daily life of the Macedonia community. We had incredible adventures, including a night walk through the jungle, a canoe ride on the river, and an amazing trip to a neighboring community in Peru. The chance to observe the stunning nature up close was truly special. The food was delicious, and the comfort exceeded our expectations. If only we could have stayed longer!

Positive: Probably the best hostel in the entire Amazon! Not only are the owners and their entire family extremely kind and helpful, the food is also amazing and they are the only place in Macedonia (the village) with uninterrupted electricity and high speed internet thanks to solar panels and Starlink (satellite internet). I got quite a bit of work done during my stay and was also able to relax. The hostel is located at the edge of the village (about 5 min walking from where you arrive by boat), which means that it's very quiet and peaceful.
Negative: Be prepared for a cock that cries loudly during the night (bring earplugs if that bothers you). This will be the case anywhere in the village though, as almost all families have chickens and cocks. Other than that, it was a perfect experience.
Summary: No doubt the best place in Macedonia, probably of the whole Amazon
