Positive: The staff is extremely helpful and attentive. The rooms are HUGE,and the ones on the 2nd floor have access to large balconies.

Negative: The only "downside" (which isn't really a downside, just a different perspective) is the restaurant. There are no menus, and you can't really tell that it's a restaurant until you ask and they cook you whatever you want, but the food is great.

Summary: Definitely a great value compared to other places we've stayed in Las Lajas - we will be there again

Positive: First and foremost, the staff (Simon in particular) was incredibly warm, helpful and always happy to accomodate you. The room was huge; bed was quite comfortable; my dog was welcome. Beautiful pool, great beach

Negative: The bed frame, while interesting, made it awkward to climb into bed - especially if you have to get up and back in the dark. I would have appreciated nightstands. And tables on the balcony and pool area.

Positive: Basically everything, starting from the well designed room, the pool & the cute spots outside.. We had warm welcome from Simon and John, they took care of literally anything we needed with a big smile and lovely patient There are coconut all around and fresh fruit, we also enjoyed john’s cooking that were soooo delicious! Highly recommend this place!

Positive: The property is absolutely beautiful and the location is very special. Its right on the beach, but on a very quiet stretch. We were the only ones there, which gave us a very special experience. The rooms are very nice, better than on the pictures with a custom made floor that really stands out. Also the caretaker Simon was very friendly and accommodating.

Negative: First of all.. you really need a car with a high clearance to get here. 4x4 recommended, but I suppose you can do without. When we were there, there were some very deep puddles on the road to get there that had me sweating. So again: high clearance cars only. Why we didn't rate this property a 9 or 10 (which it deserves) is because of a weird vibe it had that reminded me of a hostel. First of all there was a friend of the owner, both Romanian, that was pretty much laying on the couch checking his smartphone all day. That couch was right in the middle of everything, so it kind of felt like we were in his living room. Secondly the shared kitchen (again: hostelvibes) was dirty, especially the fridge. Maybe it was because we were in low season and the only guests but with upgraded service levels this really is a gem.

Negative: One room had a bad AC unit. We got moved to another room but the front door lock didn't work. No hand soap in the bathrooms.

Positive: A hidden gem! Definitely worth the stay. The beach is just a few steps away, direct accessible from the property. Pool is clean and has a good quality. The first laundry is free! Which is a big plus in this area. Very well equipped kitchen

Positive: From the moment I arrived at Royal Palm Retreat, I felt at home. The house is well-equipped and very clean. The huge pool and the private, deserted beach were fantastic. This is the best place I've stayed at, right on the beach with beautiful furnishings. I loved that I could bring my dog and my own beer to enjoy ! Highly recommended!!
