A very private woodland retreat located in a two-hundred year old restored barn. A cosy retreat within a courtyard but totally private, with its own kitchen, bathroom and woodburning stove. Located in south County Kilkenny and offerng sweeping views of Ireland’s breathtaking Blackstairs Mountains, and a home base for those exploring Ireland's Ancient East as we’re centrally located for making day trips to all the spectacular views and attractions therein. Walk, cycle, canoe along the beautiful River Barrow. Have a pint of Guiness and listen to traditional music and join in interesting conversations in the local pubs.
Your host Victor can point you to places of interest locally and speak to you about the Ballyogan Project on the land which involves others developing a more sustainable lifestyle collaboratively in community. Summary: We loved our stay in this fun barn conversion! That being said, it is an old barn, so you do share your space with some spiders (my girls ended up naming them all), but it is well worth it. We had plenty of room to spread out, the kitchen provided everything we needed and the bedrooms were comfy. We really enjoyed the walking trails on Victor's property, and Victor was a great host. He even spent part of his morning building fairy doors with my kids to add to some of the trees. We really enjoyed the nearby town -- the coffee/flower shop was great for fresh scones and the woolen mill was excellent. Definitely a high point of our visit to Ireland!

Summary: It's a bit rustic (a converted cow shed), but reasonably equipped. Victor is very helpful, also regarding local eating options. We had a very pleasant time there.

Summary: We had a wonderful and pleasantly quiet stay in this beautifully converted 100 year old barn. The property is huge and beautiful with horses and a great waterfall. Our host Victor was very friendly and gave us good tips. We will never forget this holiday. Everything was in perfect order and we were very happy with everything. We would stay there again at any time.
