Positive: The entire ryokan looked and felt really good. The room was beautiful, the food was delicious and the Onsen was so nice and well-maintained. Mari, Tyler and Andy anticipated my every need (even some I didn’t know I needed like booking an in-room Shiatsu massage and a Za Zen session at a temple with the monk!) I loved that it’s been family-run for generations and it was helpful for me that they spoke English as well as Japanese. My time at Kamisei Ryokan was definitely a highlight of my three weeks in Japan.

Positive: The ryokan is in a quiet, quaint town. Amenities are great, with the onsen and spacious classic Japanese style rooms. Dinner was fantastic and staff were very kind and helpful. Tyler and Mari were very accommodating. He picked up and dropped us off at the station. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you very much Tyler and Mari-san!

Positive: The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. We also really enjoyed the walking tour through the onsen town.

Negative: Only the tatami room was heated, so the bathroom and toilet were a bit cold. There was no warm tap water in the room.
