Located on its own private peninsula, 'Sawyers Lodge' provides unparalleled water views from every room in the house. This gated entry home is located Soundfront on the mainland in Currituck County, just 5 miles from the Wright Memorial Bridge to the Outer Banks and just seconds away from H2OBX WATERPARK! With more than 200 feet of frontage on the sound, the vistas from this home have been called "the best views in Currituck County"! Watch the sun rise from your bedroom window!
'Sawyers Lodge' was originally built in the 1920's and was known as the G.C. Sawyer Hunting and Fishing Lodge. This beautiful home is listed in Preservation NC, which promotes and protects the buildings and landscapes of our state's diverse heritage! If you are a history buff, this is the place for you! It has been lovingly restored into a 5-bedroom, 4 bath retreat that could be featured in Country Living! Original details like hardwood floors and beadboard walls are still intact, yet blend seamlessly with the updated kitchen and bathroom areas. In addition, there are 2 family living areas as well as a dining room, and a family friendly screened porch! To top it off, outdoor spaces are plentiful with 5 decks, including one off of the master suite! Your private saltwater swimming pool awaits. . . or perhaps you would prefer the hot tub to soak the day away. Oh, and don't worry about having to come across the bridge to get your house keys, you will be provided with a keyless entry code prior to your 4pm arrival.
The home has access to a boat launch area and a large, private dock for your boat and other water toys! Perfect for canoeing and kayaking, enjoy the harbor and tributaries throughout the sound where wildlife and nature abound! It is recommended that larger boats use the boat launch at Sound Park, 8955 Caratoke Hwy. Please note, locals use this boat access, as well. House is very charming, we fished with our small boat using the boat ramp next door, crabbed from pier and caught huge ones. We kayaked and enjoyed the pool, the butterfly bushes attracted so many butterflies around the pool area. House is gorgeous, did have a hard time knowing the windows did not open which left us with fire escape route concerns in an emergency. Well water is a little funky in smell but we read reviews and brought gallons from store.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Nice home and loved the views and the secluded area! We did have a problem with spiders though, I had a spider in my bed twice! Could have done without them for sure. Maybe exterminating the home during summer vacation season would be a good idea. There were areas in the home that could have used a bit more cleaning i.e. spider webs on the lamp shades. The air conditioner filters were filthy and affected the flow of air through the vents. But overall it is a nice home with plenty of room and nicely furnished. We would stay there again - just don’t want to share my bed with spiders!
